University of Wisconsin Deferred Early Action 2024

Absolutely, I think they evaluate holistically to fill openings by college.

I wonder what the trigger is. So, they’re shooting for a freshman class of 8,000.

Once they fall under 7,500 they start hitting the waitlist?

What’s killer, is the people who pay their deposit to Wisconsin, but are secretly waiting out OTHER waitlists. The college admissions dominos.

Right? Ugh. I can’t even about this. I just hope we know before June/July. Would be really tough to find out then.

Yes we got am email asking for mid year (already submitted) and a question ā€œhow does UW Madison fit your goals?ā€

Hmmm. I’ll have to check. S24 was deferred EA, so we already submitted an LOCI and one set of grades. Not sure if they want more.

Agree - big domino effect - know someone who accepted at Wisconsin then got off of Michigan waitlist and went there instead. The family had 2 graduation parties to celebrate the new decision

So relieved to hear this, thank you for sharing!!

This is pretty much the same question already answered in the application. And it says it’s ā€œoptionalā€ to answer, which I’m guessing actually means it would be a good idea to answer it.
Already submitted mid year grades and 300 characters with awards he’d gotten since the deferral.

I think we’re the same. We filled out the question after getting deferred. Are we supposed to answer again?

Yes, when my son logged in, there’s another option question about why WI is a good fit. ā€œOptionalā€

We didn’t see that option, but S24 was deferred EA. Did your son apply regular decision?

I think we’re in the same spot. So if you wrote why Wisconsin is a good fit after deferral, there’s no option to do it again from the waitlist?

Agreed but wondering if we should do it anyway.

He was also deferred EA.

We found this under the office of admissions and recruitment home/waitlist update form.

I see this on the website: Wait List FAQs – Office of Admissions and Recruitment – UW–Madison

What Can/Should I Do After Receiving a Wait List Decision?

In order to be considered for admission, you must accept your spot on the wait list by April 15, or within five days of receiving your admission decision, whichever is later. We cannot accept this via email.

You can accept your offer in your Student Center by clicking Accept/Decline and following the prompts.

After accepting your offer, we highly encourage you to submit your mid-year grades, if you have not yet done so.

There will be an opportunity to provide any additional information that was not included in their application through our optional Wait List Update Form that will be emailed to them after they accept their spot on the wait list.

Yes. That’s it.

We wrote that this remains her first choice and she is not seeking aid, so she would accept immediately.

I suppose it would be frowned upon if we offered to overpay?

They can not accept that anyone overpays
Is better to remind them is your child’s first choice
