Thanks for sharing this. Glad to know it isn’t an indicator of anything.
Thank you for replying. I was reading the forum from last year to get this info. I really need to calm the heck down about this.
Is this your first time through this process? We are in it with my youngest and I can honestly tell you that a lot of these things mean nothing. My oldest is at University of Michigan and my middle is at University of Illinois. All the random portal changes often end up being just that . . . random. We will all survive!
Just curious to see if anyone got accepted to WI Maddison yet. We got accepted to all the other colleges and only waiting on WI which is her top choice. She plans to major in zoology . Also curious if anyone knows if Maddison accepts according to major (she will major in zoology) and of course looks at everything else like GPA
to my knowledge, Wisconsin Madison does not do rolling acceptances and will release them all at the same time (by the end of January).
We are impatiently waiting . She is a senior in HS and apply in November. Was just curious when they will respond since we got all the others school responses already. Just waiting on a response from WI to make her decision
Did your daughter submit her application by Nov. 1 and all additional materials by Nov. 8? If so, she should hear at the end of January. If it was later in November, she will be in the regular decision pool and might not hear until late March.
Do they release all RD decisions at the same time. Should we plan for late March?
these dates should all be on their website, but I believe all RD decisions come out at the same time in March unless your student applied before the November 1st deadline.
that depends on if your daughter got her materials in by the November 1st deadline.
Yeah I’m assuming last Friday in March, similar to Michigan and many others. Was hoping they might do some rolling RD releases.
Looks like WI has a few Direct Admit programs but Zoology is not one of them. Direct Entry Programs – Office of Admissions and Recruitment – UW–Madison Seems other schools strongly consider the selected major when looking at the app (e.g., Penn St) but I have no idea WI’s stance.
Below from the WI website…
All students are initially admitted into the university and not into specific programs and majors, with the exception of our Direct Entry programs. Admission to the university does not guarantee admission into a specific major program or college.
She apply before the Nov 1 deadline and got all materials turned in. I just found it odd that she got responses from all the other schools and is only waiting on Maddison
All schools have different release dates. Many release on the same day as WI - IL, MI, University of North Carolina, etc.
We got our response and accepted to MI state
Michigan State has rolling admissions. Michigan does not (nor does Wisconsin).
Thank you so much for the clarification
Yes, we are working through the process with my oldest son. He’s been accepted to two other excellent schools so far, but we are all keeping our fingers and toes crossed for Madison. We live less than a mile from the engineering building and the university has been central to our lives since before my oldest was born.
First born child + impatient mom = a recipe for college acceptance disaster.
Ah, gotcha. Well, I understand. With our oldest it was very stressful and I don’t think it becomes less stressful, really, it just becomes more manageable. Try to think positive and don’t get sucked into the threads that are tea leaf reading oriented. You’ll go mad before it’s all over, haha. Sending good vibes!
I just spent an hour (or more?..) on last year’s UW EA Fall board… some interesting things to read… a few portal “tells” might be coming our way… SOAR?.(student advising orientation and registration). https://soar.wisc.edu/
Housing tile access?..on day of decision…can add it to your MyUW…
something to keep us busy until the end of January…
