LOL - I was part of that thread I believe. My daughter was accepted EA last January and in the last 24 hours before release some stuff did open up in her portal (SOAR, housing). We only thought to look because of others noting differences.
Another parent just debunked one of those earlier in this thread. Her kiddo is a freshman and none of those things happened for him prior to acceptance. Just sharing so everyone understands that the portals do not change in the same way for every kid, accepted or not.
Daughter has a few updatesâŠacademic competition win, captain of a winter sport, althletic awards. I canât find a clear answer on how to submitâŠis there a place on the portal, should she email admissions or is not advisable to submit at this point?
Reading thru the board, it sounds like oos students are mostly waitlisted or deferred? How true or valid is this? I would love to know if anyone from oos was accepted EA? My D24 has 3.9 uw GPA. Animal science /prevet. Tons of volunteer and lead experiences with Humane Society. Competitive a capella. Strong essay and LoRs. Private college prep high school. TO. Other top choice is UC Davis for animal science but UC schools are a crapshoot.
My kid was accepted EA from OOS last year. But there was a ton of OOS deferred too.
She did have around 40 dual enrollment credits and had a sibling attending.
Did you guys apply to TAMU? TO OOS is a crap shoot, but 3.9uw would most likely get you admitted - TAMU admits to school, not major. I know their animal science is tops.
She doesnât like politics and culture of Texas so it wasnât an option. But Iâve heard great things about their animal science program.
S23 was admitted EA OOS last year but agree with @KaylaMidwest: tons of very high stats kids from his HS/peer group â including a few top 10 kids! â were deferred. (Weâre from MN, though, which has the lowest rate of admission of all states.)
And while none of the EA-deferred kids that I know of were accepted RD, several of them were eventually admitted in May off the wait list. So, after several years of over-accepting and have classes larger than intended, I think they may have initially under-accepted last year and then went deep down on their wait list. If so, hopefully theyâll course correct this year.
Not sure if this has been there all along, but we just noticed it yesterday. S24 now has a line for Academic Plan on his Application Status page. Anyone else have this?
Following. We are in same boat. D is in RD pool. We didnât see a place to update so Iâm assuming email. Anyone?
Think it was always there, my D just submitted for Rd a few weeks ago and she has that line too.
I think everyone has that line.
we notice a difference too. Before it said business, finance. Now it says Bus: Finance, Invest&Bank BBA
where do you see this difference?
under academic plan on cover page and field of study under application.
My sonâs says âIntended: Kinesiology BSâ
Thanks. My sonâs says âno major code BUSâ. He applied to the business school, but undecided. And under the application, for School/college: it says Business, but under Field of Study: no major code, but again he applied undecided to the business school.
The Wisconsin app portal is truly the worst one Iâve seen!
The portal does look a bit different overall now than it did before the holidays.
My Ds just says âPolitical science BAâ. She just submitted in Dec for RD so I doubt theyâve even opened it, so hers may be a good baseline. FWIW the IU portal had similar changes prior to acceptances going out, it was typically a good sign when it was changed to be more specific.
