For deferrals is there a statement that you have to do or just wait? Could I you hear earlier than 3/31?

Finally able to view the status. It still does not load the Decision letter but we can see Application Status as admitted. Cant believe its been a hour and still the server is not recovered.

Admitted to: Mechanical engineering
Stats:
GPA: 3.84 UW GPA and 4.3 W
SAT 1540

He is still not 100% sure if he wants engineering or Economics. I know UW is good for both. Does anyone know how easy or difficult it is change major from engineering to Economics?

FWIW, two years ago UW–Madison accepted too many during EA/RD to the point that there was a housing crisis forcing them to turn spaces inside dorms into makeshift rooms. As a result, they had to defer/waitlist a bunch last year to reduce the number of attending freshmen by 500 to 8000. Given what happened, it is reasonable to assume that the school will play it safe again this year and let in those deferred/waitlisted only after the picture becomes clearer in April/May. Indeed if you visit last year’s thread a ton of people got off the waitlist.

If deferred final decision will be with reg admits 3/31. Waitlisted hears by end of May (based on experience with first kiddo) Current senior can’t get into his portal yet so the wait continues :crossed_fingers:t2:
