Hi, this is now my top school, but I am OOS, and I am very worried I won’t get in. Anything I can do to help my chances, please share. Thank you!

UWGPA: 3.74 (5 honors/5 APs/3 California community college classes)

Lots of ECs: Dance team captain/outside of school competitive dance team; conduct + publish outside of school psychology research on teen mental health; School Student lead for technology safety; Student Lead for Health and Wellness; Founder and 7-year running of non-profit that helps underprivileged women and children in my community

Major: Psychology

SATs: Decent, but won’t be submitting.

Have any applicants received an email to set up their portal yet?

Yes. It looks like my daughter received that one about 5 days after she applied.

OK, thank you. I had my daughter send a message to admissions, because she applied on 8/11 via common app, and still hasn’t received the acknowledgment email. Maybe tomorrow!

Senior applied late August, has a portal set up. The portal says the application is complete, and there’s nothing on the to-do list, BUT I know for a fact that transcripts have not been submitted yet (waiting on school, via Common App). Anybody else in this situation?

Also, I’m confused as to whether they need to submit official ACT scores now, or only after being admitted. (I know it’s test-optional, but they chose to self-report)

Applicants submit official SAT & ACT scores (if not going test optional). Here’s the link; scroll down to “ACT and SAT scores” for the info. https://admissions.wisc.edu/apply-as-a-freshman/

4.0/4.0 UW GPA (school doesn’t do weighted)

1/490 Class Rank

MN Resident

Test Optional

19 dual enrollment classes (at least half are from UMN PSEO), totaling to probably just above 60 college credits after graduation.

1 AP Calc AB (Test: Score 5)

My ECS are pretty mid. For my main ECs, I have 2 part-time jobs, NHS Executive, Tutoring, Inclusivity Club, Stock Trading, and BPA, starting this year. So really only 2 leadership positions. And then I do have some nursing home volunteering, I go to the gym, and I go to church.

Senior year classes (all DE): Calc 2, Macroeconomics, Writing, Statistics, and 4 more classes not registered yet though.

Let me know what you think, because I honestly can’t see myself going anywhere else. Am I likely to be deferred, especially since I am test optional and from MN? This is my top school, and I don’t think I will be able to be patient enough to wait till March if I’m deferred.

Did anyone’s child get an email to attend a virtual session regarding the international scholars program? My daughter is interested in majoring in microbiology but also showed her passion for foreign language and studying abroad. Just wondering if this went out to everyone or if they’re going through apps and targeting specific applicants.

My daughter also received it.

My daughter received the email. She applied as International Studies major.

My son received it. Applying as an education major.

My kid (engineering) did not get the email. Anyone from engineering get it? So far we have 2 who did not. I don’t know about the program - maybe it’s not an option for engineers?

Mine did not get an email even though she expressed a side-interest in Latin American studies and languages. However, we have gotten nothing since the original acknowledgement from common app support which indicates “downloaded” on the CA dashboard. She applied Oct. 30. But we know she has a portal since she already had one from a summer class. A little worried, but we wait.

Did she login to the portal to make sure they received all the required documents? Transcripts, LOR’s, etc? As long as it says application complete, she should be good.

Anyone have waitlist data from this year of Fall '24?

very few
