Holy ■■■■… this is the most entertaining thread ever!
I follow that and don’t see it.
If UW-Madison is ACTUALLY giving hints like this (which I seriously doubt), then hats off to them
it’s from 5 days ago
That’s why we are obsessed with them! Best school in the world. I went and so did my husband and Madison is like our second home. My son has dreamed of this his whole life and worked so hard and is so ready to just know if he will be a Badger!!
It was posted 5 days ago. The theory is that it’s only showing on the feed of those who are accepted… lol…
Amazing. It does not usually not come out until at least 7 Central but my son has his best friend’s bday that night at a comedy club and was hoiping to open with us but if it comes out after 6:30 NY time he’ll be opening with his friends in the middle of a show and will facetime and screenshare the reveal with us. I guess either way is ok and will be what is meant to be…
I looked back and I have it and actually loved it at the time but I have to ask my son if he saw it…but don’t want to make him nuts he has been so calm and happy so I’ll leave it alone.
is this crazy?
Why is it a secret? Are they not sure they’re ready to release? If you give kids a deadline of November 1st, you should have a deadline for when you release and be transparent about it. This process is stressful enough for kids. Give them a date and time so they can plan when and where they will be opening their decision.
^ respectfully disagree. You can’t just say if the school gives the applicants a deadline that the school should hold to a notification deadline of their own. Two reasons come to mind for this:
-
The school does not know exactly how many applications they will receive but they do promise to give each application its own thorough review. Reviewing 60,000 vs 80,000 vs 100,000+ applications require different time committments not only from the AOs and reader staff but also from the top officials who make final decisions.
-
Admissions Office staffing levels are not always steady during the review season. And, as witth most organizations, sometimes they unexpectedly decrease.
So my daughter is anxiously awaiting her UWM EA application decision but let’s understand the admissions office personnel is probably working as hard as they can to respectfully and thoroughly review however many applications they received with the personnel they have on hand.
Agree, we tend to be unfair to colleges. I understand the anxiety waiting for decisions, but unless the school has been inconsistent in their messaging or being random about the decision roll out (like some colleges are notorious about), there’s no reason to complain.
a lot of schools can and do notify students close to when admissions decisions are being released as to when and what time.
Five of the 8 schools he applied to EA sent emails about a week or more before decisions saying “decisions will be released on X day at X time”, which is far less stressful on the kids than madly checking and refreshing just in case.
That’s a fair expectation.
I hear that and agree to an extent. Plenty of schools like UIUC and Purdue give a concrete date and stick to it. They could at least give a heads up the week of so kids can plan accordingly for when and where they’ll open their decision.
I certainly agree with this part.
When they get to the point of deciding, internally, when they are going to release, they should do the professional and transparent thing: give advance notice of the release date.
