Daughter was admitted direct to business. She’s very excited. 3.8/4 gpa, 5 APs, TO, excellent ECs in business including two finance internships (one very selective program), started a women in finance club at her school. Did not visit yet but did an online admissions event. We interacted with the AO at a college fair (we are in northeast). We talked about how she didn’t have AP calc and they really wanted to see it. She’s in AP stats and hon calc. He said if you are missing AP calc you’re going to have to show us something impressive to make up for it.
Don’t give up, I think they are waiting for OOS fallout from this round of deferrals. If you thought you were competitive before and Fall classwork demonstrates it, you still have a strong chance.
Sleep off the disappointment and file grades and LOCI?
Does anyone know if they will accept a LOCI? Says not to email anything and to respond to their direct request for self reported mid year grades.
OOS daughter accepted!
Really strong trajectory with good rigor after a so-so freshman year. Made it clear she would commit, interesting ECs, strong letters of recommendation, very good essays (this isn’t my first child, so I have a sense!).
Congratulations to all and to those deferred, don’t be discouraged!
OOS Son accepted to College of letters and science w/Physics major. were sort of expecting and didn’t get surprised! very happy though. SAT 1510/US citizen but international study, school topper, 4AP (that’s only possibility), physics research paper published in conference, founded 4 STEM clubs and won few state and 1 national award, 1 international award. Spelling bee finalist in 2016 (although international though). Super excited since physics is very good at UW!
Accepted chemical engineering. In state. 35 ACT, 3.99 UW, NMSF. Top 5% so auto admit (auto admit doesn’t apply to engineering, though). Still have no canvas login or access to housing portal.
Haven’t read the followup yet, but seems the Fall grades are very important.
Accepted OOS for College of Letters and Science (Geography)
Yes, it’s sad. Our HS guidance counselor warned us that no one would get in from our school because in the past all the high stats kids got in and then didn’t attend. As an alum I am disappointed because my daughter, although not perfect, took a class there last summer and had an A and her essays were spactacular. One thing I don’t get is how all these kids that got in have a 4.0 unweighted. There are only a handful of students at our school with a 4.0. So we were warned that UW would look mostly at grades and scores. Congratulations to all you future Badgers. If you got in please go! You will never regret it. On Wisconsin!
I’d agree. In general most high stats apply EA, so a deferral with solid stats still holds a good shot in RD.
D25 had a really bad second semester of her junior year due to a personal situation, which pulled down her UW GPA to 3.7 (which is still great, at least for me) — thankfully quite a few of her other targets have overlooked it in the broader context of her academic strength and ECs.
Admitted OOS Biomedical Engineering. 3.9 uw/4.5 w, 1580 SATs
does anyone know if we are able to confirm enrollment yet?
Congrats! Do you mind sharing your stats? My OOS D is planning on applying for Kinesiology next year.
Seems like in-state with lower stats are being accepted more than OOS with higher… maybe just this wave, or i’m wrong… but if so, it bodes well for high stat kids with good Fall performance and rigor.
Did anyone not get a decision yet?My daughter is logging on and nothing is coming up either way. Is there something specific to click on to find it from the main screen?
No. The people who didn’t even get deferred probably don’t much feel like posting about it right now. I wouldn’t either.
deferred OOS CS… MAN IT HURTS
Did all deferred students get letter about how mid year grades are most important and nothing about loci
D Accepted Psychology Major
4.0
33 ACT
MN resident.
Accepted OOS for business, neither housing or canvas work. It appears that there were no real tells in this cycle’s astrology, except perhaps the 91-92 thing.
