both. once deferred, you/re moved to the RD pool
DS25 admitted to Letter & Science (OOS). Strangely, still see 91 apps
Thank you @momof4kid .. I couldnât have survived this admission storm without supportive parents like yourself.. Now down to our last two: GW tomorrow (not going for sure, but just curious) and Mich Ross next week (not happening for sure.. lol)⊠So, I guess, we know our final options now..
So, so happy for your fam. Thank you for helping me get through this! You and @OR1 truly have been a blessing.
Does anyoneâs letter explicitly say computer science major? Ours doesnât. Just says âadmission to the University of WisconsinâMadison in the College of Letters and Science.â
Update: Got the answer from UW website. Looks like you are admitted undeclared and need to complete some (not hard) requirements to declare CS major.
DD25 admitted CS, 92 apps, was deferred from EA.
Sad..denied for CS
Denied from deferred oos business, but great options with direct admit to Gies and Kelley! Disappointed for sure but others options are solid. Just so curious how they decide and how one school see value in what we have and another school can deny us at the same time.
Itâs a lottery, even though for Madison, they take very few students as direct business in freshmen year compared to most others; also a much smaller program with cohort size of about 650.
FWIW, weâve seen acceptance to every single OOS schools and privates, but ditched by our own state flagship with a 50% acceptance rate.. go figure

D25 admitted CS, OOS, 92 apps, was deferred from EA.
Stats please?
UW GPA-4.0, W GPA-5.32, SAT - 1550 , Good Essayâs, Extracurricular - good
I am honestly in shock my daughter was admitted. She felt the school would be a good fit for her based on the Wisconsin Idea and wrote her why Wisconsin essay accordingly.
Her stats:
OOS
3.68W
3.61UW
TO
Microbiology major
OOS, denied after being deferred. 91 apps the whole time. Applied to the business school as first choice, but now wants to study Econ (second choice) and maybe shouldâve gone with that instead. She has great options (maybe sheâll consider in-state UVA a little more seriously now, lol) and learning to deal with rejection is a very good lesson. For future readers her stats were 1460, 3.96 UW, 12 AP/DEs, 3 varsity sports all 4 years, president of a club, tons of volunteer hours.
Same!! So many ups and down. We are getting very close to the final list. Denied from BC last night and expect denials from Cornell and Mich. We think Syracuse is Friday but donât foresee that in the final list. UW seems to be the front runner. Good luck. This made my day!!!
I was admitted OOS for sociology! 4.71 W, 3.94 UW GPA.
D25 got admitted EA for industrial engineering. Sheâs trying to decide between Wisconsin, Purdue and Ohio State, all OOS, all IE. (deferred at U of Michigan). We visited Madison and Purdue recently. Purdue is ranked higher among others (whatever that means), but coming from a large CA city, she loved the vibe at Madison. Even though Iâm a former Buckeye, I have some safety concerns about Ohio based on what I have read recently.
The COA is ~68K for Wisconsin, ~48K for Purdue and ~45K for Ohio State (with some merit). We can pay, but Iâm still questioning if itâs worth the extra 20-25K a year price tag.
I have read here that there may be merit awards announced in April for Wisconsin. If there is any chance of merit, that can make the decision much simpler for us. Does Wisconsin send merit announcements after admissions? We didnât receive any merit notification with the admission letter, so I just assumed that there is nothing. TIA.
92nd app showed up approx. 1hr after seeing decision in the portal. Still canât access canvas.
Denied. Oh well. I canât believe how hard it is in state to get admitted.
Same with my D25, but she has lots of great choices including in CA. Best of luck to everyone. This was def one of the more fun threads.
