University of Wisconsin Early Action Fall 2025 Admissions

Denied OOS CS. For future reference for those looking for info for next year we always had only 91 apps. There is definitely no rhyme or reason. My kid was accepted to Penn State, OSU, Purdue, UIUC, Minnesota, Northeastern and got denied from UW. I am so glad that the decision was already 99% done for OSU so this denial just solidified decisions. We are done! Best of luck to everyone and thank you for such a great thread!!!

whats the direct admission acceptance rate to the business school if anyone is familiar with it?

Oos admitted for L&S (CS). I’m sorry I missed all the fun on this thread til today - you guys are next level. My ‘25 is 99% sure about an earlier admission, but we got one more to go to see this thing through. Good luck everyone!

Edited to add for future astrologers - I only checked the portal today for the first time and it showed 92 apps and terra dotta.

They mentioned 17.7% in an Instagram post recently.

We chose OSU. Loved it after we went to visit. The crime is no different than any other big city. Join the parent pages for OSU and this question has been asked and answered by locals. Best of luck!

Deferred then denied OOS. 3.9/4.4, 1430, Environmental Science.

91 apps to the end.

Goodbye all - loved this thread!

Loved it here too! Son deferred then denied. OOS 4.4, 11 APs, Varsity soccer/club team captain, tons of ECs, leadership and spent a summer volunteer teaching in Uganda after which he decided to pursue global studies. Loved Wisconsin - grew up spending his summers in the state with his grandparents. Not sure what else he could have done short of being an actual Badger
but his destiny is elsewhere I suppose. This was my favorite thread by far. Squirrels forever friends. Good luck to all! 91 apps till the end

Denied here, too OOS, psych.

We can cry in our beer together, sleep it off, and grab our next best alternative with gusto!!!

Psych is the/one of the highest enrollment majors at most colleges/universities. It also is one of the broadest majors, providing pathways to teaching/counseling, social work, mental health care, professional schools (MBA,MD/DO, Law), and Psych grad schools (PhD/PsyD).

Except for Psych PhD (harder to get in than any of the other professional schools, including MD/DO) and perhaps PsyD, it really doesn’t matter what school you get your BA/BS at.

The rankings for Psych programs are notoriously difficult to make sense of, for a number of reasons, but a big one is that the field is so broad, that except for less than a handful of schools, most have top expertise in only 1 or 2 areas of the field, if at all.

UW, for example, is tied for #22 in the 2025 USN&WR rankings of undergrad Psych programs, and tied for # 9 in the latest USN&WR Psych Grad School overall rankings, but only comes in rated in the top 10 of the 5 rated areas of the field, in a single sub-field, Developmental Psych, 8th place.

If you are truly interested in psych, for any of the many areas of breadth, besides Grad School Developmental Psych, don’t let today hold you back. All the best!!!

Truly saddened to see your post, I’ve been rooting for you! Thank you for making this process more bearable (and even fun). Sounds like your daughter has many great options, was this the last one you were waiting on?

Congratulations to all those who were accepted :tada: and condolences to those who were denied.

I don’t remember seeing anyone mention that they were waitlisted, which is surprising.

Great point - I hadn’t thought about that. From my student’s friend group, 3 were accepted, 2 were denied, no waitlists.

Does anyone know when Wisconsin has an admitted students weekend? The portal page seems down right now.

does madison take second sem senior grades if waitlisted?

No need to feel sorry for us, UW is a great school, and Madison is a fun place, and it was myWhitefish Bay-born mom’s tri-delt alma mater.

But my daughter, who is aiming for a Clinical Psych PhD pathway has undergrad acceptances at #5, two #10s, #18, and a full ride at our local #33 Clinical Psych Grad School
 with 4 decisions to go.

We’re so lucky and will be happy with any of them!

Wishing you and all the other posters here the absolute very best!

My daughter applied RD, waitlisted today. Does anyone have any guidance on navigating the waitlist process, things to do and not do?

Tbh - I think Kelley and Gies are better business schools academically - UW has gotten much more competitive because the Madison campus is very desirable.
