Unusual Bone in my Favorite Chinese Chicken

Does a chicken have any bones that are as thin as a toothpick, at least 1" long, and slightly curved at one end? While enjoying Sesame Chicken the other night, I was stabbed in the mouth by this small bone. Please tell me it could have come from a chicken, as I love this Chinese restaurant. This is haunting me.

Maybe you can locate the unusual bone here?

A rib? I don’t know, I fail at anatomy.

I lean toward vegetarianism more everyday
;)

^^^^Funny!!!

Most likely it wasn’t a whole bone but a sliver off a larger bone created during the cutting/chopping process. I wouldn’t worry about it.

And this is the parents’ forum?

^^ I was all set to suggest that the OP consult a rat skeleton illustration.

But i guess that wouldn’t be mature. :D

I wouldn’t worry about it. It was probably something from the wings. I know when I make chicken stock I often find skinny sharp bones that sound like what you are describing.

Watch the movie “Food Inc.” and you probably will never eat meat again. When I saw it, I was so glad that I already was a vegetarian. :)

It appeared to be a whole bone, not a sliver and it was thinner than any of those chicken bones appear, even the wing bones.

mathmom, have you really had bones as thin as toothpicks in your broth?

Consolation hit on my biggest fear. What is smaller than a chicken?

Sounds like a piece of the wishbone, a y-shaped bone that (I think) connects the two breasts.

Sounds like a bone shard, or a chicken with a wicked sense of humor.

that’s the ulna, I believe. You can check the diagram of the wing on this page: [How to Draw a Bird’s Wing | eHow.com](http://www.ehow.com/how_2110938_draw-birds-wing.html)

Yes definitely as thin as a toothpick. They are easy to miss when I am fishing out bones.
