Unusually warm weather in certain parts of US

For those of you experiencing it, what do you think of this warm weather?

I have been appreciateing it for one main reason. We are getting our front stoop redone. It involves cement and masonary work. We were told it was fine to start it In December. Well it isn’t done and it won’t be fine if it starts getting to be the normal cold and snowy weather. Today it was wam but rainy. They didn’t do any work.

I actually don’t mind winter for awhile. I would love snow for Christmas. I wish this warmth came in March and April.

Even if it isn’t cold, like today, if it is cloudy and grey, it is blah.

We started our house addition in December, 2008. Oldtimers said it was the coldest December they could remember.

This year, my family is visiting from Texas and wanted/expected to see snow. Sigh. It will be in the 60s on Christmas Eve. Everything is brown and gloomy.

It’s in the 60s and rainy. It’s making it really, really hard to get into the Christmas spirit when I can walk outside in just a hoodie. It’s just not right

Ha! I went shopping in short sleeves today. It’s supposed to be 75 degrees on Christmas Day. I’m in Virginia.

I bet this will be one of those winters where we have snow in April.

It was cold and drizzly today, so I bundled up in my nice warm winter coat and scarf. (It was 60 degrees.) Nights will be down in the 40s this week which is about as cold as it gets here. No surfing this Christmas … Sigh.

Wow, our weather is comparable to MI and ME with VA beating us by 15 degrees.

I don’t like it so warm with no snow this week. It doesn’t feel like Christmas to any of us. Plus…I can’t wear all my cool, cute winter clothes I’ve been looking forward to wearing when I go out!! And December is a big social month.

I like winter until the end of January, and also would have welcomed this warmth more in April.

I don’t understand why anyone would want snow for Christmas. All it does is interfere with the travel plans of people who want to visit family in other parts of the country for the holiday.

(When they were handing out sentiment, I was standing in another line.)

ok…lets qualify. 3 inches of snow, but it’s been there long enough that all streets and airport runways are clear.

I love it, but I’m a northerner who would love to be a Florida Gulf snowbird or resident now and not wait until retirement age. It’d be nice to have snow for about a week before Christmas and after (minus the chilly temperatures–impossible, I know), and I’m afraid of what this means for early spring, but I’ll take this right now!

It’s the same in Europe too. Daffodils already blooming here in England .

It is odd to have it so warm , but I like to benefit of using less heat. After last winter, this is welcome

The Syracuse area may set an all-time record for the least snow in December. Ski resorts have finally opened but have few trails available due to warm temperatures. I love this as I finally got a chance on my birthday to go out to eat and hang out with my family.

I’m thrilled it’s warm(ish) even with the rain. Supposed to be 70 here tomorrow. Shrimp on the barbie for Xmas Eve dinner.

@Tonyk, we are going to Syracuse on Saturday to visit the inlaws. I always feel like I’m in Siberia when we are there. Will be nice there is no snow for a change.

For all of those driving somewhere for Christmas, roads clear of snow and ice are a very good thing.

I agree the Christmas spirit thing is a little more difficult for those of us used to cold, but I’ll adjust! Oh my, running errands in a hoodie vs coat/boot/mitten + driving on snow = JOY.

Those of us in the midwest (and some other areas) certainly prepaid the last two winters. We deserve this

Loving it. It is in 50s here on the plains. Warmest fall ever. I think there are still a few roses on the side of my house! Ground was still soft when I was staking my Christmas lights in the yard last week. I can’t stand cold weather at all, so I’m all for it.

Even in places it never snows, like the middle of Florida, warmer than average weather prevails. We’re forecast to have highs in the mid 80’s for the next ten days. The A/C is running; it’s too humid and warm to open windows; our lows are 70 degrees. It’s not so fun to cook the holiday meals and treats using the oven when the kitchen is so warm. The local paper said we might be able to expect a cold front by the end of January. I don’t miss snow, but I wish it would feel a little more like fall, winter, spring than the beginning of summer!

Meanwhile here in the SF Bay area it’s cold (for our area), high 30s at night, low 50s in the day and intermittently rainy. We’ll be seeing frost in the next few days. Just the right weather for Christmas. We might even have snow on the local peaks (Mt. Hamilton, Mt. Tam, Mt. Diablo) on Christmas morning.

I live in Northern Ohio and grew up in Michigan - have NEVER understood the need for a white Christmas. Thrilled that ours will be green - literally, the grass is still green!

Selfishly, I’d love it to stay as mild as it has been. Wonderful for outdoor activities, have been able to run outside all fall and this month except a couple days. However, I recognize the downfalls. My brother has a heating and cooling business - this weather is AWFUL for them - people aren’t worried about efficient heating systems etc. when it’s mild. Also a little concerned about plants - if these 60 degree weather days stuck around much longer (which they won’t) the bulbs and stuff will start peeking through the ground and then get bipped when it does get cold.

Though we don’t drive too far, I’m thrilled to know that weather won’t be a concern on Christmas.
