Wow, tough crowd.

She kept fiddling with the veil during the ceremony. It was distracting.

Nothing like the political forum!

That was in extremely poor taste even for Bachelor Nation. Seriously.
Secondly, I could see Theresa in a much plainer type dress, maybe ivory, with her hair up and a tiara. She would have looked more appropriate for her age. JMO.

I think the producers are just really leaning into the golden aspect of this season.

Interesting article about the real reception after the cameras turned off: https://www.theknot.com/content/gerry-turner-relationship?

Ahh, this is the picture that the bridesmaid dresses were designed for. The article says that they are also Badgley Mischka.

Sorry, I really don’t think the garments do justice to any of the wearers. Oh well, product placement rules!

Just completely tacky.

Everything was an ad. The Amazon gift registry… The flute glazes that the group gave her being in an Amazon box rather than wrapped. The bridal gown–and yes, a 70 year old in a white dress and veil was silly. (I didn’t “get” Theresa’s claim that she didn’t get the bridal gown she wanted the first time because she and Billy got married on 2 days notice when he was drafted. She’s previously posted pics of her in a wedding gown in a church wedding.) I guess the designers wanted the product placement of a wedding gown and not just a tasteful evening gown.

Apparently, the Mercedes they drove off in was also a product placement.

It was noteworthy that Theresa’s son was not there. I didn’t hear any explanation as to why. Maybe he and Gerry didn’t hit it off and that’s the real reason Gerry and Theresa aren’t moving to South Carolina.

Who walked her down the aisle?

Her son walked her down the aisle. It was Gerry’s father who wasn’t there. He is 92. Supposedly he wasn’t healthy enough to travel.

The bride’s dress was not tailored properly at the top. Too loose, and the boob pads were too big. Hence the somewhat awkward look. Other than that and the silly veil, the dress was fine. It was pretty.

The bridesmaids’ dresses… let’s say my kids’ bridesmaids would have handed their resignation letters if the kids had picked those BM pleated numbers.

The bridal party would have looked much better without all the teen and very young flounces and ruffles. Elegant/sophisticated understated elegance would have looked much nicer, but hey, I wasn’t in charge. Cringy that the wedding dress straps kept falling and one broke.

They were meant to be on her arms, not her shoulders, but unfortunate that one broke. They did quickly fix it after the ceremony and commercial break!

Imagine my surprise to learn he’s alive. Since they made a big production of the difference in the Golden Bachelor series was not meeting the parents, I just assumed they were all dead.

And yes, I know that people in their 70’s can have living parents; I still have 2 living great-grandparents, both of whom surprisingly traveled 5000 miles to attend my own wedding.

As a total aside, I would love to hear from anyone here on cc who used Kathy as their college admissions counselor!

In this article, Theresa said, “My daughter has been incredible. She owns a few businesses that have to do with weddings, so she’s seen thousands of them. She put together the vision board, and she’s answered so many questions [on our behalf] when we weren’t available,”

With all of the talk about net worth, owning a few businesses caught my attention. It looks like Jen Woolston owns BoothBus and The Roving Bar. Her IG page has some very warm family photos. She also shared the vision board and the “save the date” invite for Theresa and Gerry’s wedding. I couldn’t help but notice that the bridesmaid dresses at Jen’s wedding were Tiffany blue. I wonder if she was involved in choosing the color/style of the dresses that were worn.

For what it is worth…

I have never watched any of the Bachelor shows on TV, nor any of the Golden Bachelor telecasts. I have read about Golden Bachelor here and elsewhere. I tuned in for the second hour of the wedding telecast, which was the ceremony and then mostly banter by people related to the franchise whom I didn’t know or care about and didn’t show much of the reception.

I did not like Theresa’s gown. I just don’t like that shape. Also, the veil hid a lot of the dress. I did notice that the strap on one side wasn’t right in the ceremony. I would have liked a classier and simpler style dress for her age. Nothing wrong with sexy aspects. It just seem too much going in in the dress. I think the veil almost looked silly for the age and I think something nice in her hair would have been a better look. The veil even hid her a bit.

I did not like the bridesmaid’s dresses. So much frill…just not to my liking no matter their ages or figures.

I thought the best part were the little “speeches” by the daughters of each of them.

I also thought Susan did a good job and she seemed like a likeable fun person.

So, that’s one take from someone unfamiliar with the series.

Oh, one more thing, I kinda cringed when in the vows, Theresa mentioned Gerry’s “integrity.” It just didn’t fully gel with his coming off as never having dated since his wife died and the fact that he had had relationships to the point of living with someone. I realilze the show may have crafted the story line and it may not have been his doing but the fact that Theresa didn’t know that until it came out later, just felt icky in terms of trust issues. Same with his work history or “career.”

If they loved the dresses, that’s all that matters. :). Not easy getting a bridesmaid dress on several people in less than a few weeks.

I agree that it ONLY matters if the bride and the bridesmaids loved their own dresses!

However, as this was a spectacle on TV, I feel it is fair game to chat about what we thought.

Also, while they only had a few weeks, they had a LOT of help getting ready and access to what they needed. They didn’t even have to pay for the dresses.
