My kid received interview email today - applied Jan 1 or 2 (I think)

Was any applicant invited to the closed list event last evening? I am told it was a great intro to key leaders at UPenn. Has anybody received closed list invites yet?

On further examination, it looks like this is not correct information. It must have been an MBA event or not at all. Kindly disregard my question above.

Our kid applied and received call for alum interview 3-4 days after. Had a very nice interview with a lovely alum currently working towards a masters at Penn.

Applied on 1/1. No interview yes. Am I done?

“It is our policy that applicants cannot request a conversation with an alum. Please don’t worry if you’re not contacted for this opportunity. Since the availability of our volunteers is limited, we aren’t always able to reach every applicant. Therefore, your application will not be viewed negatively if you aren’t offered a conversation with an alum.”

“Student Applications are not pre-screened or sorted. Applicants are matched solely on availability of our alumni volunteers.”

I note anecdotally my S24 and others I am aware of are still on “pending assignment” in the portal.

I would not worry about it for the reasons stated by Penn. If they can’t find someone available, it will not affect admissions.

I wouldn’t worry too much. S24 just got an interview email yesterday after applying 1/1 and it’s scheduled for today. Since it’s based on alumni availability, they’re probably just working through everyone.

Is usually whoever assigned to you in the portal as Alumni Ambassador the one who will reach out to you for interview?

LSM applicants (or other dual degrees) - have you had interviews with faculty/director or just alumni or no one?

My son had one mid-January with an LSM alum. I have seen another post elsewhere where someone was interviewed by faculty in a previous year. Guessing that one was more promising. How about yourself?

It was very casual, he was a more recent grad, I wasn’t sure if there would be additional intensity on questions given program but it wasn’t that way at all. In case that’s at all helpful. They seem to do by availability, it was over zoom on opposite coast.

I got someone assigned in the portal. But haven’t receive any interview invite yet. What shall Id o about it?

I’m sorry, I don’t know on that, I’m the parent and haven’t been on any of his portals.
