i found the full Hamilton musical on YT so im just gonna use this to keep me busy for the rest of the week
Does anyone else have a gut feeling about their admissions decision?? I have a good gut feeling that I can’t seem to shake but I don’t want to give myself false hope.
@paaw1122 Literally the same as you. I have a good feeling but I’m pissed at myself because I know its probably wrong. I can’t stop daydreaming about opening the applicant portal and seeing the video, but in all honesty I’m going to be very disappointed if it’s not there.
I posted last night kinda late, so idt a lot of ppl saw my post last night:
I know there’s basically no way I’m gonna get in. I applied for the slightesttttttt hope. At this point idk why am I nervous and anxious like so many of you guys cuz I shouldn’t be. Like I applied knowing I’m not gonna get in. lol
So I just have 2 questions:
- Does anyone know what would the defer/rejection portal looks like? I know that the acceptance one would be a video at the top of the page saying congrats. Just curious what the other two looks like on the portal.
- Does anyone know when will they send out the letter to our emails?
I really really really want to know the answer, so if anyone knows please lmk!!! Thank you guys all so much and woohoo less than 3 days left!
@plshelpmicollege i feel the same way, but sometimes i have a good gut feeling and then ten minutes later it’ll be a bad one and i just keep going back and forth ugh! i watched some people’s admission reactions and just want the same thing to happen to me
Exactly like I feel good about it but I’m mad at myself for getting hopes up because in reality there’s no way I got in
Is there a chance they’ll release decisions at like 2:45 or a little bit earlier than 3? Last year there were kids posting their results before the official time
@LevTolstoy I’m first gen! I got a 33 (34 superscore).
I kinda wanna be rejected tbh
@masquerade98 I applied to CAS as an International Relations major as well! I hope we both get in!
@sajeunesse i do not think Penn is less economically diverse than other similar schools, i.e. Ivies, Stanford, MIT, Chicago, Duke etc. Penn is definitely more racially diverse than most other ivies but big economic diversity is hard to achieve when there is a lot of focus on standardized testing since more well-off applicants tend to do better on these tests. and given the importance of these tests on college rankings and frankly the lack of a tried and tested substitute there is no chance Penn is going to stop caring about standardized testing…
penn has some of the lowest test scores compared to uchicago, HYPS, etc… so i dont think focus on standardized testing is the issue. it is no secret that HYP give much better financial aid than their peers, and the name recognition they have everywhere instead of just in certain affluent areas helps them attract more low income students than penn
@2021Hopeful why do you want to be rejected?
@Dartmouth_21 The differences in standardized testing are rather small at this level and depend on the priorities of the school but the average scores in these schools are still very high by any standard. For example Stanford (avg 1510) and Penn (avg 1500) do not place as big of an importance on test scores as Harvard and Chicago (both have an avg of 1540) but their scores are still very high compared to the national average, so it is an issue that affects diversity. To get an average score of 1500 you need to admit many students from high socioeconomic level than our average university. I agree that HYPS maybe get more low-income apps than the rest of the elite schools but not quite sure that there ends up being a difference in the socioeconomic diversity of the admitted class in these schools. if anything HYP, and especially Yale and Princeton are less racially diverse than Penn, and (sadly) race and income in this country are rather highly correlated. Of course these is all speculation since the data is not available to make detailed comparisons.
@2021Hopeful @sprincess623 he’s said this before, idk why he is saying it again, but he applied to Penn but doesn’t really wanna go there anymore because they got generous amount of money from other school
@xindisun99 LINK PLS
I want to keep participating in this forum, but every time I go to say something, the only words I can fathom are “I’m crying” or “I’m dead.” lol. This week will be the death of me and I will need a serious food coma to get me through the weekend blues.
