Accepted to CAS but my financial aid package is messed up
@lazycat281 you can appeal it. but act fast. as a last resort, you can break the ED contract if they refuse to meet your financial need.
As a current freshman at Penn, I wanted to stop by and let you guys know that almost exactly a year ago, I was in your shoes. I was sweating about my decision and worrying about what I would do if denied or deferred. I was on CC practically every day (in the 2020 Early Decision Thread), asking people to chance me, commenting exactly how much time was left until the decision, and sharing in the stress of fellow applicants. Since Penn was the school I really wanted to go to, I figured that if I didn’t get in, I wasn’t worth it. I’m here to let you know that these decisions do not define you. For those who were accepted, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. For those deferred, I am hopeful that you’ll eventually receive admission. To those who were denied, it’s Penn’s fault for not recognizing the unique potential that you could have brought to the university. Don’t allow yourself to get hung up on this decision and allow it to ruin the rest of your senior year/decisions. All of my close friends applied to Penn, and as one of the only ones to get in, admittedly, I felt bad for them. Now, when I talk to them, they are happier than ever and have no regrets about the decisions they’ve made. To put it in perspective, the fact that you’re able to attend a college of any sort puts you in a place of extreme privilege that the vast majority of high schoolers in the world are not able to enjoy. Your potential will be noticed by a great college out there, so instead of dwelling on this decision, work hard on the rest of your apps, finish the year out strong, and one day, I’m confident that you’ll do something big to change the world and show Penn that they made a mistake in not admitting you. Best of luck to you all, and I hope to see some of you next year.
PS: If you have questions about anything, literally ANYTHING (party scene, workload, food, etc) please don’t hesitate to PM me and I’ll be more than happy to answer all of your questions, no matter how extensive.
Congratulations to the newest members of #Penn21. Today we welcome over 1300 new Quakers to the Penn Community. Many thanks to the students who shared their stories and to the parents and counselors who have supported them through this process. We look forward to the contributions you will make on our campus and across Philadelphia. Welcome to Penn!
All throughout high school, I’ve pulled all nighters and studied my ass off while staring at pictures of Penn and wearing Penn apparel to school on big test days for good luck. I had no lunches junior year because I wanted to show Penn I could excel with a heavy course load by doubling up on AP sciences and maths. I got a 97% GPA unweighted with 8 AP classes, I attended UPenn’s summer camp, and I got a 35 ACT and I have 2 generations legacy plus family who worked for Penn and still got deferred. Idk what to do because I can’t see myself at any other college and didn’t do any other supplements nor do I want to now. My transcript request form is due Tuesday next week and I don’t even feel like going to school because why bother trying anymore? I guess I’ll just attend my local community college because I don’t care anymore
I think you’ve missed the point of my message sir…giving up is not the answer. You can use the same perseverance that you used to try to get into Penn to try to get into an equally good school or better. Never sell yourself short, and never neglect your dreams. From your brief synopsis, I can tell you’re extremely smart. Don’t waste that…
now im just gonna hope to god my roommate isnt a lazy and dirty bum.
Accepted to nursing! I am honestly still in shock, this is a dream come true.
Rejected/Wharton
Welp… it’s Penn’s loss fellow rejectees
^^that is the right attitude to have! Move forward and show Penn what they missed out on!
not sure how I can get into an equally good school or better when Penn’s ED legacy acceptance rate is 40%… Idk maybe I should try to find a school with a 50% acceptance rate lol

@sajeunesse Skype is helpful to reach applicants who don’t have a nearby interviewer available. I think it’s unfortunate if an interviewer chooses to do a Skype interview purely out of convenience. If a ca
