how much are the people deferring gonna impact everyone on the waitlist?

A few days ago, HKUST sent me a mail asking what program I’m pursuing now that I’ve declined their acceptance offer (out of financial reasons)… It would be so cool if I could reply being in UPenn CAS… O’ God, help me

Do you guys have any idea about how it would affect me? I am a non resident who lived in the United states since elementary school.
Im also wondering how it would affect pure internationals on the waitlist :((I have Asian residency but is probably in the Europe region as I board in Switzerland.)
Will international students from countries with new entry restrictions be affected and unable to get off?
yeah they wont get off..china wud be tough too
for unis that wanna be safe they wud only pull off domestics
Only pulling off domestics would be a bad outlook for UPenn. Hopefully they won’t do that

Didn’t you choose to stay on the waitlist? I don’t think anyone would give up this opportunity. However, judging from the situations of several other schools, at this stage, international students have very few opportunities.

Yes, I also think that international students have no chance anymore.
I also consulted a former admissions officer. She said that students like you, who are in the United States and have the help of a counselor who is in contact with the admissions officers, are the first to get off.
