<p>I just wonder if any of you are in the urban debate league. I have a tournament tmr and Im starting as a jv team. but unsure about the rebuttal. What is the difinition of “new argument?” Can we still read some cards from the inherency extensions, significance extensions etc</p>
<p>A new argument would be like bringing up a new DA (disadvantage) or CP (counterplan). You can’t bring up new arguments in the rebuttals.</p>
<p>Stick to what has been argued in the constructives (on-case, already mentioned DAs/CPs/Ks).</p>
<p>You can read cards but its usually frowned upon. It should be more of a speech without evidence. Sum up the arguments in the round and explain why you should win.</p>
<p>Also, number one rule of rebuttals:
USE ALL THE TIME.</p>
<p>It doesn’t matter if you have to repeat yourself a bunch of times. Don’t end it prematurely. If you don’t use all the time, the other team basically gets more prep time.</p>
