I am planning to apply to the following colleges/programs
<p>I don’t have excellent SAT scores (planning to retake SAT I in Jan) but I have plenty of okay ECs. I’m an international student and my school forces us to only apply to at most 5 US colleges. I really love Penn and wouldn’t take it off. So it’s between Brown, Dual BA, Chicago and UMich). Any comments or suggestions?</p>

@bubbles for sale My first SAT attempt was in June and I got <2000 but I’m sure my Dec attempt was a lot better, at least 2100. Now I’m hoping for >2200 in my Jan attempt. I have a lot of ECs, I dance, sing and play piano (all with certificates), I cook. I do a lot of voluntary work. I came second in a robot design competition, and I created a science exhibition (regional one). The worst part is that I don’t have much academic awards. Btw, I’m an international (Chinese ><)</p>

<p>You don’t seem to have any real safeties? All of those schools are pretty selective. I would trade on in for a good school that you have a nearly absolute chance of getting into. You do not want to be faced with a surprise rejection from UofM or UC, especially because you are oos.</p>

<p>Try to get your school to relax the policy. It is not good strategy at all to apply to too few highly selective schools in the US–there is a real risk of being rejected from all of them. I agree that you don’t have any true safety schools on the list. Perhaps your safety school is in your home country?</p>

@hunt unfortunately, my school will not relax the policy. And yes, you’re right, my safety schools are in my home country. I think I’ll wait until SAT scores come out tomorrow… :(</p>

<p>@mom2collegekids I don’t need FA. I did apply to UCs but since UCs don’t need transcript at the moment, my school doesn’t count it as one.</p>
<p>I would say take off Columbia.</p>
<p>If your only reason to apply to Brown is for their PLME program, take that one off. Your chances for that as an int’l is very very tiny…even more so with less than stellar stats.</p>

<p>First you have to get into Columbia and then apply to study at Science Po. So it’s still Columbia. Columbia has the most diverse student body in the US. It’s also has the oldest.</p>
<p>From what OP is stating Chicago, Columbia and Brown are very very long shots. Columbia may be the least predictable. Chicago is opening up a center in HK. What exactly does OP bring to the table at any of these places?</p>
<p>Take off Columbia, it’s simply too hard to get into even for a student with a 4.0 and a 2400. It’s not very international-friendly. I’ve had friends go and have their lives absolutely sucked out of them. Great school though, maybe go for graduate.</p>
<p>@rhg3rd No, I don’t have to be accepted to Columbia. I am only applying to the program itself. Only if I fail will they consider to put me in Columbia. The program doesn’t use commonapp but a single supplement pdf file. The questions are different as well. What do you mean by Chicago opening up a centre in HK?
