Hello, I’m a US student with a conditional offer to study at Cambridge next year. According to my letter, my offer is contigent on my upcoming AP test scores, but also on my high school diploma. Graduating is no issue, but I know that I am required to submit my final transcript to them. Because of some shortfalls I might get a B/B+ in 1-3 classes. Is my offer likely to be rescinded because of this, even if I meet all of its conditions (i.e., scores on AP tests, evidence of achievements, graduating)?
I couldn’t find a concrete answer online so I figured it was best to ask here.
Did Cambridge specify in your offer what grades you must achieve in your transcript, as well as AP scores? There is usually no wiggle room. If they specify an A and the candidate misses an A by even one point then they will pull the offer.
The “local” offers are based on achieving A Level or IB results which are National exams, so AP’s are the most equivalent and why they don’t specify a GPA in the offer. Since your offer only specifies AP results than I think that is what you need to worry about. If you miss the AP grades they will rescind the offer- no wiggle room. I would try to keep your grades as close to what you applied with, but I wouldn’t worry about a slight dip, so long as you achieve the AP requirements. Hope that makes sense.
