I’m withdrawing my app from USC, decided to pursue a career in linkbucks instead and make $5000 a week.

haha jason!

For the 30 units questions, I called USC earlier this year with the same exact questions. Both times I called them I got the same answer: It does not matter how many units you have when you send in your app. All that matters is how many units you have by the END of spring semester/term.

I had 16 credits after Fall and when I sent off my app, but since I will have over 30 by the time my Spring term is up, they won’t be weighing my HS app as heavily.

And the wait game continues…I really hate this.

looks like my high school grades will be looked at more then my college. im quite happy with that haha

^^^ have you only been in school for half a semester or only taken 12 units per semester or something??

Actually, the 30-unit rule is upon application, I was told this by an adcom & at at my Trojan Transfer session.
If you have less than 30 units upon applying to USC, they still look at your high school stats/extra curriculars & weigh them more heavily than your college stats since you have > 30 units. (There’s nothing for them to really base your stats on or determine trends about your grades when you have such few units)

If it WASN’T upon application, and the rule was applied to applicants & their total credit units after spring grade requests were sent out, there wouldn’t be anyone who met the > 30 units rule, because ~15 units/semester or quarter = regular course load, and to be at sophomore standing at the end of your freshman year, you must have acquired 30+ units.

Most if not all freshmen transfer applicants will be reviewed on the primary basis of their high school grades/activities/standardized test scores, and then (secondary to high school stats) on their college coursework.

I was told the EXACT opposite by adcom counselor(s) and at the transfer session. I’ve also talked to my regional counselor about this issue and it was confirmed again. So if you have 30 at least by the end of spring semester, they don’t really weigh in on your high school stuff.

And some people have tried to transfer after taking 12 units each semester (24). So people would still qualify really.

yeah Radiance I’m pretty sure u are wrong. I called the office countless times to ask them the question and they told me the opposite answer. I also emailed the office and they gave me the “end of the year” answer. I even emailed my region’s admission counselor rep and he said the same thing… so yeah. 30 units by the end of spring!

zirc -

yea i did apply to UT:) but it sucks because i missed their prio deadline… i submitted my online app like a month before, and then sent my other stuff before the deadline, but mail was slow, so they got it 1 day after the deadline…
i was so ****ed ![]()
i also applied to:
tufts - where i havent even finished my app
dont really care… dont wanna go there anymore
u colorado @ boulder - which is where ill most likely go if USC says no
cant say no to all that snow… ![]()
swarthmore - haha just did it because i liked the essays, havent really finished that app either…
im so lame
haha
and im probably going to apply to u rochester if USC says no and im not sure about boulder

what other schools did you guys apply to ? :)

Well, hopefully you guys are right because my high school stats were just a little above their mid-50% for freshmen applicants ;-;

Why did they tell me differently >__>

idk adcoms r dumb

i only applied to usc – its the only school that’s worth transferring to

Same, USC ftw

USC, UCB, UCLA, UCSB, UCI, CSU LA, Cal Poly SLO

the only one i wanted to go to aside from USC was Cal Poly SLO. that didn’t work out, so now it’s practically all or nothing on USC. the UCs don’t have my major. i’d rather endure another year at CC than study something i don’t enjoy as much

USC…there’s no other place to be :)

I am never taking another woman’s studies class AGAIN. Seriously I only took it for the sake of getting a diversity requirement out of the way. God the things I do to get into this damn school! lol

Lol, ShooShu, I am in a gender class right now.

Haha! The weird thing is that my English 101 writing class last semester had a gender-based topic and I actually liked it… but this WS class I’m in right now I really do not like as much. grrr

Ya, this is a theater arts class, cross listed with English, but it should be also cross listed with philosophy. pretty crazy stuff

In my critical thinking class the professor hated me during the time we were using the feminist criticism. She was a diehard feminist and I used her whole argument as the basis for my term paper of why feminism (as she presented it) was wrong. Her words to me in our review session, “I’m not sure I will be able to read this with an open mind, but I will try.” LOL

She does not sound very pleasant. What was her whole argument?
