USC 2009 transfer thread

Hi guys
I haven’t received a status update since I submitted my application in january! is this bad? I’m calling later today but can anyone give me any info?? pleeassee

it still says: Thank you for submitting your Part 2 application. Applications can take several days before being processed. Please check back later for any updates to your application status.

tell me i’m not screwed

…Lucky -_-

yeah…you should call. it should have at least changed to “We have received your application. We recommend you check back here occasionally…” at least. and even to the second update by now.

Did you have to create a new username (if this is your second time applying)??

yea this is my second time applying so it is a new account…what would that mean?

well check your old account status. because i had to create a new account too but they are doing updates through my old one. so hopefully that’s it. let me know if that’s the case. :)

ok thanks for your help! i have no idea what my old account is ha! i’ll have to look for it

I am applying with 34 or 36 units, I don’t remember. I didn’t add any of my IB scores to my credits. I really hope I don’t get an SGR because I have a 3.9 and I probably won’t be keeping that GPA after this semester. But, aaam90, with that many credits, what use is it for them to ask you for an SGR? I personally believe that it will be a acceptance or rejection on the spot for you, which is what I am hoping they do for me.

yeah i really don’t want an SGR either because i got a 4.0 and don’t think i’ll get one this semester. A lot of the credits are just AP so they aren’t graded which is why i’m kind of skpetical. So I think if we’re above 32 units, hopefully we won’t get the SGR.

Ya, I just checked. I applied with having 37 units, and after this semester will have 49, not counting IB credits and other classes that I need to petition.

@ celine.

if you create an oasis account, that would be the most recent update. so if you don’t have one already, you should definitely check that. maybe it will save you the hassle of finding your old account.

ohh you applied with 37. you definitely won’t get a SGR i bet.

i applied with 21. but after spring will have 36. so now i’m less sure. ergh.

at the risk of sounding naive, what is an oasis account?

I have 29 units completed as of now but I am a freshman, is it more probably that I will get an SGR than an actual decision?

Great job on the 4.0 Well, AP tests are very rigorous, with that in mind I think that they will weigh in on you not receiving an SGR. With 32 units or above, I believe they have a sense of how we perform. Perhaps they also account for GPA. If someone has, let’s say, a 3.7 or 3.6 with the same amount of credits we do, but we have higher GPAs, it seems to me like they would get an SGR instead because their GPAs can potentially drop much lower than ours. That’s just based off what I think

@ celine

it’s another website used to track the most current status of your application and financial aid documents. here’s the URL to create an account. :)

uscplease777, you may get an SGR just because you indeed are a freshman. Sorry, I know that is probably not what you want to hear, but I know someone who got an SGR and she got in. She was transferring as a sophomore though- which worries me.

@ captain: yeah that’s pretty good logic. hopefully, neither of us will get a SGR.

@uscplease: i think you completed enough units for you not to receive a SGR. how many units will you have after this semester? (i’m a freshman too.)

Hopefully aaam90. uscplease777- I really hope that you don’t get an SGR. Sorry, I wasn’t trying to sound negative, its just based off what I have read around the thread. An SGR would just string us along and make a rejection just that much worse.

But, we really cannot change whether or not we will get one. We just have to do our best, and what will happen will happen. If we step out of the confines of time for a moment, I believe its already happened, lol. So, maybe that takes some stress off.

celine,

did that end up working for you??

i think it’s funny when, around the time acceptances/rejections come out, a bunch of people start posting they got in that have never posted on here before.
