@uscplease777
oh you are? same here but i live on campus in pentland. and same goes for me. right now i’m kind of on hiatus with everything socially… and just focused to get out. you’re a freshman correct?

here are my stats - i’m not exactly sure what you want… but ill tell u what i’ve got so far -

Riverside:
-Major: Business
-GPA: 3.908
-UCR University Honors Program
-UCR Dean’s Honor List
-Dean’s Academic Distinctive Award - not too sure what it is… i literally JUST got it…but I have to go to some convocation later in May for it
-UCR Honors Fellowship - it was like a grant/merit… basically free money hah

For USC:
-applied business
-am taking prereq right now
-did some GEs
-applied in feb with financial aid too
-had a letter of rec

are you in the honors program as well? what are your stats if you don’t mind me asking?

My stats are misleading. I graduated high school in 2002. Upon graduation of high school, I found a great job. Well finding this great job at a young age was the worse that could happen to me because my academics took a major hit. The job required 60+ hours a week. I tried to attend school but it was very difficult to maintain a decent GPA. I got placed on academic probation in the spring of 2004 for having a 1.75 GPA. I pretty much said “screw school, I want money,” so I dropped out. My head was in my @$$. I continued to work until the spring of 08 and realized that job sucks. So I quit my job, enrolled back to Moorpark College, and since the spring of 08, I have completed 47.5 units with a 3.9 GPA and I am currently taking 14 units, so far I have a 4.0 this semester. Sadly, my past haunts me and that 1.75 of the past is still hurting my overall GPA which is now 3.3.

Ooh okay thanks for the heads up about Oasis! I checked and it said:

"Your status:

We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1."

I also remembered that I submitted a question a few weeks ago about my documents and got the reply, “We have received your application and your file appears to be complete at this time…” I should be alright, right?

Anyway yeah I got rejected by UCLA too, so it’s making me so much more nervous for USC right now. I wish I could get a notice or at least a SGR as well… :P

waitingonSC: that’s a really interesting story. i’m sure if your essay or some part of your application thoroughly conveyed the lesson you learned or something, they will be happy with what you’ve accomplished now.

also, don’t let a 3.3 haunt you. that is still decent and my boyfriend got in last year as a transfer with that GPA. so don’t worry too much. plus, your upward trend is amazing.

aaam90- i don’t think i checked my status within those 7 days between the 2nd and 3rd update. i was expecting to see the 2nd status for a longgggggggggggggggggg time. i’m not sure if i received “your application is currently under review…”

waitinonSC: That’s awesome! I also have to agree that your progress is commendable. And congrats on the SGR, I personally think it’s an awesome sign. :)

jennnn: I think if you’re an applicant, you should be able to log into the Financial Aid & Documents section of Oasis. I could, and I haven’t been accepted. I couldn’t access the main Oasis website, though…

Gpa: 3.903
Units Completed: 29

I am on the dean’s honors list as well and I will be going to the same convocation hahaha. I’m not in the honors program though, I got offered to be in it for the upcoming fall though, if I won’t be at USC by then =(

I’ll be finished with all my GE’s by the end of this year including my foreign language requirement (Communications, don’t worry) so hopefully that will look good. I’ll be starting on my major’s courses asap as a sophomore if that were the case. I’m most likely going to get an SGR if anything because I will have the 30 semester units completed exactly by the end of Spring Quarter. What classes are you taking?

danng hahah we do have similar stats! how funny!

-how many units did you take during each quarter at UCR? when you said 29 units… did you mean quarter units?
-i took 18 first, 19 second, and now 15. i have 4 units from this past summer as well…

-and you paid $70 for the national collegiate scholars award? i got that as well but was told that it was just a title to put on your resume for the cost of $70. the parents didn’t think it was worth it

-you got invited to the convocation as well?! nice! do you happen to know exactly what it is? my mom told me that i had to be nominated by someone… but idk who would… do you know anything about it? i tried asking my suitemates about the award but they didn’t know anything about it

-right now i am taking macro, bus calc, this honors class, and eng 1c. you?

-you should have joined the ucr honors program. it’s super beneficial. where are you from, as in your hometown? do you know anyone or any have family members that went/go to usc?
