and congrats by the way.

Congrats! Israbeckham!
Did you put econ as your 1st choice? or r u planning to change major to marshall later?
I’m applying to marshall too, and put econ my 2nd choice.

Klim3690

I live in East lothian! Whats your name? dudee I am also going to that convocation on May 4th for Dean Distinction Award. For getting “gpa of 3.9 or above,” right? haha

May 14th lol*

I applied as Econ, but if I go hopefully I’ll transfer to Marshall

Wow! That was so quick. Congrats Isra!

Israbeckham - Congratulations!

waitingonSC- I’ve got a similar story, except my falling grades were due to serious family problems that came out of no where. My GPA ranged from 3.6 to 3.8 each semester, except for that one. I’m at a 3.3 right now as well, hoping it goes up a bit after this semester. I explained it in my application.

It’s relieving to hear that they accept those with GPA’s around there. USC has high standards and is an extremely respected school. I pretty much lost nearly all hope seeing all the 3.8 and 3.9’s and 4.0’s. Good luck to everyone! It’d be magical if we all got in! :)

oh nice you’re in east lothian. my name is karen. what about you? what are your stats if you don’t mind? do you know anything else about that award (other than what was said in the e-mail)??

Israbeckham - congrats on getting in

grey, we’re jealous man ![]()
we need some jack to cool our tensions

klim -

units:
fall - 13
winter - 16
spring - 16

the convocation is for all students who got an accumulative gpa of 3.9 and above in their first two quarters at UCR. no one nominates you, its the next level higher above deans honors list (that was for first quarter only). so congrats to us!!

I’ve taken: Math 4, History 20, business 10, cultural anthro, intro to socio, english 1B, geo-science

Currently taking: Shakespeare: comedy, english 1C, history 15, spanish 1

and yeah but I was willing to pay 70 bucks to be able to put an ec down since freshmen have like no time at all to join any ec’s. its also really beneficial with scholarship opportunities and networking so i thought it was worth it.

i’m from orange county and my aunt went to usc, but as a music major so i don’t think that gives me much precedence

GENERAL Q:

does anyone know if USC gives CCers precedence over 4 years? I know UC’s do that where they take CCers over 4 year institutions but I wasn’t sure if USC followed the same trend? anyone?

Klim

uh, i was reading the website and it said you had to be nominated by a faculty member or dean or something. I posted my stats on my last post but i can post them again:

SAT: 1960
HS GPA: 3.2

UCR GPA: 3.923
Units: 31

My only A-'s were in Chinese 01, and Chinese 02

Dude, if we both get into Marshall we are celebrating lol

if anything mohammed, us three would get spring grade requests since we’re under the 30 semester units rule =( so hopefully we can all pull through this last quarter!

@ uscplease777
-oh nice, you’re going to be perfect on the units part.
-ohh alright, i wasnt really sure what it was… but idk it sounds a little more prestigious than the regular dean’s list… because for the dean’s list, you only need like a 3.5 or whatever. and i know if you maintain at least a 3.5 or whatever, you’ll be on some chancellor deans list or something? but that goes for basically anyone in the range of the regular dean’s list you know? so hmm… ahah i guess i’ll get a clearer idea once we get those invites in the mail
-nice, my roommate wants to go to uci, which is in the oc. haha just htought i might add that
-when did you take math 4?? i took that too, last quarter, same with anthro with mcmullin

@mohamedalloo
-yeah that’s what my mom said… but we will see i guess!
-oh and sorry, i kind of just jumped on the band wagon hah
-are you in the honors program too?
-what classes are you taking/have you taken?
-haha well lets hope you get in

@ uscplease777

30 semester unit rule? what?

@ uscplease777 and mohamedalloo

oh what are you two doing about housing?

congrats Israbeckham!

waitingonSC, I’m also applying from Moorpark…funny that there are two of us on here…

uscplease777-

I don’t think USC is REQUIRED to take more CCers than anyone else… but they generally accept more CC students than other groups (~ 60%). They say on their website tho that they welcome students from all sorts of backgrounds (which is why the next biggest accepted student pool are out-of-state 4yr colleges… ~20%). Personally I think that USC probably gets more CC applicants than other types of applicants which ends up with them accepting more of that group.

UC’s I think need to accept more CC students though because it’s public.

o and congrats Israbeckham! I am jealous.
