@marco - I don’t want to burst your bubble, but I do want to provide you with a reality check. SCA Writing is the most competitive undergraduate writing program in the world. They accept 25 new students per year, most of whom are freshman. Once they have admitted the number of freshman they want in their program, they give any remain slots to transfers. Some years there are ten slots available for transfers, some years there are five. You then have to compete with hundreds upon hundreds of applicants for the remaining slots. Additionally, the Writing program is four years long, whether you are a freshman or a junior transfer. It is a sequential program, and there is absolutely no way to finish in less than four years.

Your best bet will be to minor in Writing at SCA, and find a major in another discipline that will relate to your minor.

I’m sorry to be so blunt, but SCA is nearly impossible to get into for any of their majors. You have a better shot of getting into Harvard Law School.

Having said that, here is a link to SCA’s supplemental materials page for the Writing major. Your materials are due December 1. It sounds like a long way off, but if you want to give yourself the greatest chances of being admitted, you should start working on them now. You will also find the number to SCA’s Student Affairs Office below. You may want to ask them if it is even possible for a current USC student to apply for the Writing major.

man my last class is on like june 26 (i got SGR)
weakkk gonna have to get those grade cards and send in 1st class! :{}

kmzizzle, wow and I thought my classes ended late! You might want to call USC and let them know your situation in case you don’t get your grade cards mailed back to you in time?

Hey guys, as far as the internal transfer questions, I can give some advice. I got into USC as an econ major and transferred into Marshall. Basically, there are two pre req math courses for the major, math 118 (bus. calc) and 218 (probability). I hadnt taken calc yet, so I took that, an acct course, and 2 GE’s and got a 3.7 and got into marshall. If you have already taken calc, then you will take math 218 and that is what they will judge you on. They put most emphasis on the math course, so you just need to do really well in that. But that can be hard since those math courses are filled with many other capable people who are trying to do the same thing. But if you put your mind to it, it can be done. I just devoted my entire first semester to dominating school and I made it in.

Good luck everyone,

FIGHT ON!!!

grade cards mailed back? dont u just give them a 3x5 and have em sign it?

It’s my birthday today
Good things will happen!!!
I hope we all hear what we want to hear from USC today :D

I just received an email informing me that me appeal has been rejected. So be it. I wasn’t really hoping for much, so it does not have much of an affect on me.

It was nice interacting with each and every one of you. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, USC or not. Remember, success is what you make it.

This is Hippo50, signing off.

I’m not sure how they do it at your school, but at mine, we have to give them a grade card that they mail back to us after they tabulate the grade. Since we’re taking the final that day, they don’t know what our final grade will be. I’ve had some professors say that I could come in next week after Finals and have them sign the grade card in person, but most of them will just mail them to me. Then I’ll turn around and send them to USC.

Sorry to hear that hippo :(. Good luck!

I had a dream my status changed, fail.

Are grade cards a specific form that I need to give to my professors or can I just tell them the requirements (grade, units, class, signature, etc) and have them send it to me on like a 3x5 or a piece of paper in the mail?

The bookstore at my school sells grade cards (they are like postcards) with that info on them.

Any SGR applicants get updates yet?
