^ April Fool’s tends to have the funny stories. I really liked the last comment by Jimmy Beam.

my status update on USC hasn’t been updated since 01/27, which is when I submitted the application…

does this happen to anybody? should I be freaking out?

That article cracked me up. :D

phattie- i wouldn’t worry about it. i haven’t had a status update since i turned in my application either

I have been admitted to the other 7 schools I applied to. Problem is some of the schools have a deadline of May 1st to send a deposit. USC doesn’t make transfer decisions until June. Why do they take so long to decide? I’ll hear from UCLA long before USC. FSU admissions just told me they’re not making a decision until they get my statistics grade because I have to fulfill their clast requirement.

I’m not sure I want to wait around until June. I really would like to have everything set up before I graduate from my community college in May.

Well then too bad. The worst that’s going to happen is you lose $100 or so. If that loss deters you from attending USC, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I sent in a film application as a minor. I applied as a comparative literature major with a concentration in media. Although, on the USC website it still says Print Journalism. I changed my major after seeing the GPA requirement. Just recently my GPA boosted from a 3.4 to a 3.7 .
Stats:
-My GPA is 3.7
-for the minor application, I had to send one essay describing my passion for film. I poured my heart and soul into it. I highlighted a couple of life experiences. I also talked about my film and journalism experience, my long terms goals, etc.
-I am a Phi Theta Kappa.
-I was a U.S. Student Ambassdaor. Travelled to Australia
-Staff Writer of high school newspaper
-Contributing writer of college feminist magazine, “lilith”
-Member of Digitial Filmmaking Club at my college
-Member of Student Government

what’s everyone’s status update? mine hasn’t changed

You likely won’t see a status update from another month.

Well, if it was just a $100 there wouldn’t be a problem. But thanks for the input. (-_-')

alright I know financially my family cannot afford usc, but they do make good money. I do not quite understand this financial aid stuff, am I most likely going to receive a loan or something along those terms. Because I do not want to be in debt 80 grand after graduating from sc, it just doesn’t seem like its worth it? Anyone thinking of how they can afford sc out there besides me?

You are not alone. On average student’s financial aid package is $30,000. I applied to the USC Norman Topping student aid fund, full ride scholarship. This spring break I’ll be writing letters to alot of organizations for a scholarship. To tell you the truth, I’m hoping to get accepted to UCLA so I don’t have to worry about financial aid.

pootie562 - USC is an expensive private university. If you really want to transfer there then money shouldn’t be too much of a problem (if you’re willing to go in debt for a couple of years). If USC is anything like most private universities such as NYU then they’ll have a sort of payment plan where you have a contract agreement with USC to the pay the tuition in a required time.

I know usc is a great school and I want to go there, I am only doubting it because I know tuition is going up soon! I just wanted to know how financial aid works. Does USC reduce the cost of tuition or something like that, I am just looking ahead that is all.

Tuition is not only going to go up for USC but other universities as well. My guess is that Financial Aid will reduce the cost of tuition if you qualify for it. By paying some parts of your student fees.

yeah tuition is going up everywhere. i want to go to USC no matter what. and my parents don’t qualify for financial aid really. so basically i am going to be in debt A LOT when i graduate. but i think the benefit of going to USC in the long run outweighs the cost of education.

i know this has probably been answered before, but does anyone have an idea how common it is to get a SGR?

Do more people get straight up acceptances vs SGRs or is it vice versa?

I think i have a shot at a straight acceptance but if they ask for spring grades i’m finished…

I must have missed it due to the 100+ pages , but what is SGRs?

SGR = Spring Grade Request

y7bbb6 - if you look in the past 5-10 pages you’ll find you answer. I’m sure I posted the answer to your question previously.
