Nvm I found it

MBtown- does USC accept spring transfers? I want to transfer but I missed the deadline for the fall because at that time I did not know I wanted to transfer.

USC unfortunately doesn’t even have Spring Admissions. The only way you would be admitted to a Spring semester is if you applied for Fall and you weren’t accepted, but USC really liked what you were about; what they would do is just offer you admission to not the Fall semester but the Spring semester right after the Fall in which you applied for. I think it happened to a couple of ppl on last year’s transfer thread; in other words, I think it is pretty rare.

Ok to follow up on my last post, it looks like they already have the new degree worksheets up for you business transfers: [USC Marshall Forms](http://www.marshall.usc.edu/undergradprogram/advising/forms.htm)

This is frankly appalling. How can you require students to take certain courses then change the guidelines after they have already taken said courses, effectively making those courses useless and their time wasted. They said they want to encourage students to pursue a minor but for accounting majors, it prohibits them from doing so. 5 semesters gets you an accounting degree and nothing more. You’re looking at a 5-6 year plan if you want to pursue a minor, absolutely ridiculous.

Yup I just planned out according to their 2 year transfer plan and it leaves us with no real option for a minor and I won’t be able to take a couple of the FBE finance courses i really wanted to. Looking at the accounting major transfer plan, I’d have to say they all get it worse as they’ll need an additional semester just to get all of the classes in so extra year for you all?

@skyline12 I’m also planning on accounting. According to an academic advisor at Leventhal, the changes to the core business curriculum also apply to accounting majors. And yup 76 units we have to take, 5 semesters, or 4 semesters and one summer school. Boo!

Pretty disappointed. Every other program that I have seen institute changes has given at least 6-12 months prior notice, it’s just common courtesy.

@frantastic:

I had the same exact question about 2nd choice majors. I didn’t put one either when I was filling out my app because I knew I wanted to stick with Biology. But then on this website I heard how they review your application and are not accepted into your first choice, they transfer your app to your second choice major school major for “another chance at admission.” To clear this up, I e-mailed one of the admissions counselor and this is what she said:

“All students are considered for each major they select on their application. In addition, they are always considered for general admission to the University. Thus, if a student does not get his/her first or second choice, they can still be admitted to the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Upon entering, they can apply for the major of their choice.”

Personally, I’m already applying for the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences so I guess this doesn’t affect me. But if you’re applying to a major in a specific school and didn’t put a second choice major, your application will still be sent over to Letters, Arts, and Sciences for another review.

@trojanhopeful

Ahh, thanks so much for clearing that up.

@trojanhopeful wow that brings even more relief to me; thanks for the information.

has anyone talked to a transfer counselor from usc about the curriculum changes? i am thinking about emailing mine

is it just me or did the month of march go by really slowly?

if march is creeping by at this rate…april and may are going to be worse.

i agree… any chance they mail you a letter before june?

@ mreddiee Some people received letters as early as the beginning of May. Most received them at the end of May though.

hey by the way, can anyone (a marshall transfer accepted last year or someone trying to transfer as a sophmore like me) give me an honest opinion of my chances of getting into marshall?

Current school: Cal Poly Pomona (freshman)
Applying as: Business Administration, Economics (2nd choice, my backup because I know someone who was able to get into Marshall after being accepted as an Econ major)
GPA (after winter quarter): 3.7-3.8
Marshall prerequisites:
Microecon - A
Macroecon - B+ (@$$hole professor… i missed an A- by .6%)
Eng - A
Math requirement - currently taking

I have been taking 16 units every quarter, and pretty much fulfilled every category of the recommended GE’s. I have 150+ hrs of working/volunteering experience. I think I am a pretty solid writer, and feel pretty good about my essay, but you never know how that could turn out =/. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks guys. Good luck to all you guys who are applying as well!

edit
GE’s:
Category I - History of Western Art -> A
Category II - History of Ancient Egypt -> B (so boring…)
Category III - Biology + Lab -> A / A
Category V - have not taken yet
Diversity - currently taking

These classes aren’t listed on my articulation agreement, so I’m not sure if they will transfer:
Statistics -> B
College Algebra -> A
Freshmen English I -> A-

ACT: 32
SAT: 2140

march is going by slowly in terms of waiting for usc… but school wise with work and studying it seems like time is flying by… i need more time to finish everything!!

oh i see. still a long time from now :(
