USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Knowing the following has comforted me:

2 weeks from today to Spring Break.

Then 6 weeks to Memorial Day.

The day after Memorial Day is our last day of class…

THEN FINALS BEGIN!!!

I usually shave off a week here and there, since once its already here its already here! (i.e. the end of May: that last week I’ll be so happy and relieved decisions should be out soon that I won’t care another week is left.)

You guys don’t finish 'til June?! Lol, I don’t think I could handle that. I’m back home by the end of April. :p

I’m already done! My last final was on the 24th and my grades are officially posted tomorrow. :p

…now I get to focus all of my energy on waiting, hoping, and crossing my fingers. ;)

Wow GoldFinch that nice. I finish May 21. I kinda like mine better cause it would be amazing getting an acceptance letter before finals; it would be like a huge inspiration to do well.

I finish on May 20th striker, so I definitely feel you on that. I’m just nervous that we won’t hear back before finals. It’ll make the week [unbearably] stressful.

Haha lets hope we get it before finals then.

I finish on June 11 -_- You guys are so lucky. :D

I finish June 22! Last year when I was waiting on those grades to send in my SGR response (deadline is June 30) I was so worried I wouldn’t get them in time.

I finish april 23 (the day before my brithday - how great is that!) but i am studying abroad for a month so i will be finished may 23 or so. can you believe it is almost april - AHHHH

Well, I received a slight status change- it now says “We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.” I doubt there’s any significant meaning behind it, although I now am more likely to check it more often- after all, it’s nearly April, and people will begin to hear back in less than a month!

2 more days of march left… :smiley: I’m starting to feel the suspense build up!!! hahaha

@dreaming - That’s the one I’ve had. I wish I knew what it meant!

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

=…[

so looking at other transfer posts, im getting nervous and need some chancing haha
so what do you think?

CC: Mt SAC
GPA: 3.9
Major: Psychology
Units: probably 50-55 if i transfer over. Almost all categories done as well.
EC’s: Honors program, conducted research and presented it @ city wide conference, VP of honors club, ICC Rep for another club, err…cant think of anything else ATM.
Essay: I think it was strong. Basically wrote about how my HS experience was crap. barely graduated with a 2.07 and changed my attitude later.

Chance me and ill chance you too haha :D

@Dainese

How many credits are you transferring with? Have you already completed all the pre-reqs?

@dainese i think u have great chance, this is hearsay, but i heard its actually good if u did bad in high school because it shows u improved lol

I agree with jhsocal, although I feel that doing bad in high school holds more weight if you are applying after one year. However, if you are applying after two years, and maintain a 3.9 GPA, it is more than sufficient enough to show an admissions counselor that you have grown as a student. But after one year of college, it could hurt you.

@dainese
But to sum it up, from the information given, you have a very good chance. Great GPA, strong ECs, and if your essays are as strong as you claim, I see no reason why USC would deny you.

:D fosho. ill be transferring with 50-55. depending if i take summer or not. I may want a break. I will have covered all categories except category III which i could do in the summer if i choose to, which i probably will since its much cheaper here.

But yea, i stopped schooling for a year after graduation so i have a huge gap. but even then, ive only been at my CC for about…1.4 years.

thanks a lot everyone :)

Dainese -

You and I are on the same ship. I graduated high school in '98 with like a 2.2 GPA. I didn’t even take the SAT or the ACT because I knew that I was academically hopeless, so, I turned to the military immediately following graduation.

Your chances seem very good. I hope you make it!!!

thanks budlightyear (love the name btw)

I know how it feels to not have any academic hope haha. i didnt take the SAT either! LOL
**** was a waste of time. just go to a CC and do well. save money :)

so why would going straight to a university even be the smart thing to do anymore?
you’re more tempted to **** up, its more expensive, your a freshman!

transferring is the new cool thing to do.
