Hey guys! I’m having problems with my financial aid stuff for USC. I was just wondering if having financial aid stuff would affect my admissions? I was told by some people that it wont. I just wanted to make sure

what kind of problems? lol.

you do not have to have your financial aid complete. it will not affect your admission.

I went straight to a four-year, and don’t regret it at all, for many reasons. I attended a high school that was essentially the non-collegiate equivalent to USC, and, frankly, I just couldn’t imagine attending a CC. Rather, I wanted the college life, and although CPP was a bad decision, I chose to go there in order to relocate (I’m from the Bay Area) as well as be close to LA/USC. Moreover, I felt as though the classes at my institution were to be of a more difficult nature, thus providing me more experience (this is simply a conjecture). In terms of money, it is not an issue because my parents pay for everything, so I suppose that there was no incentive to stay at home for monetary reasons.

Ultimately, I’m simply trying to say that CC’s are not the best choice for everybody :)

@dreamingUSC - I agree. its very true that CC’s are not the best place. I was mainly just poking at the bad apples that go straight to 4 years and mess it up for themselves leaving the more motivated students with slightly lesser GPA’s with no admission.

But CC can easily pull you down just as hard. There are so many lazy people. But on the contrary seeing them motivates me to leave haha.

I’m actually glad you brought up the high school performance thing, thanks; it was bugging me for a really long time. I’m happy to see all the positive responses in that regard, now I’m kinda glad that I was a crappy kid. Thanks everyone for making us feel better.

hellostranger57 -

Just a word of friendly advise -since we’re on spring break- give the financial aid office a call and try to clear things up ASAP so you won’t have anything hanging over your head when school starts back up, especially when it comes to finals time. You can always go back and edit your financial aid documents later. Admission is one thing, but financial aid is a whole other beast, just make sure they have all the stuff they want from you.

I’m technically a high school drop out, so I’m right there with you guys with the previous poor performance thing! I didn’t take the SATs, and I probably had a 2.? GPA while I was in high school (9&10th grades), but I really have no idea. I would have graduated in 2005, but I left in 2003, so I’ve had quite a gap as well.

i was a partial highschool screw up. my college counselor said with my sat scores and ecs i couldve gotten into the likes of stanford. it was my damn gpa. i was so stubborn. i regret it so much, but what can i do?

I ended up with a 2.8 gpa in high school
But i have a 3.9 in college right now
I guess the screwed up high school gpa was a big wake up call for me hehe.

Haha I was something like SFwarrior25 but instead of gpa I had a low SAT because I would never take it serious usually I would fall asleep when taking it. I know if I would’ve taken it seriously I could of gotten a score somewhere at the top.

I fell asleep and had really bad ADHD when I took my tests too. I didn’t do terribly, but I wish I had done better.

My status just changed to:

"We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1. "

… sounds like a SGR is on the way?

Wish I had a status change.

Got a status change as well, says I need to submit my HS transcript. Thought I got that in a while ago…uhhhh, I hate USC’s transfer system.

@skyraptor…mine says the same thing…i wish we knew if that had any kind of significance!!

i hope it doesn’t hold any sort of significance. all of my materials were sent…

I wish I had a status change.
I think I’m going to get a late status change though. My payment for Part I didn’t go through until a couple weeks ago. I lost the debit card I used to pay for it so naturally I cancelled it. Well, USC charged my card after it was cancelled so it didn’t go through. Luckily, they admissions officer said it wouldn’t effect my app but I definitely think they’ll look at mine later than other applicants.

Are you guys checking oasis? My status disappeared. Question for everyone: I have an evil class that has two grades, midterm and a final. I just got my midterm back with a c, and now I realize I won’t be able to get even a c in the class unless I get 100 on the final. So I can still withdraw, should I? I plan on taking the class in the summer… Also this puts me at less than full time I if I withdraw. Although I don’t expect a sgr from sc because I have 46 units and a 3.9… Whadya guys think? Should I ask admissions this?

Definitely call admissions or email your rep. They’re very nice and helpful.

@sky-raptor - I wouldn’t say that it is for sure an SGR. I’ve had that status since early February.
