Ahhh, I haven’t gotten any emails or status changes.

Is anyone else on here transferring from the east coast or another 4 year college? I feel like this whole 4 year college thing might work against me… D:

@frantastic. I don’t know about the four year college thing, but I don’t think the east coast college thing will hurt you. I know that USC pockets a big chunk of change on each international student they let in, so were all being hurt by internationals, but I don’t thin East Coast, West Coast, Biggie, or Pac matters…

@scrsk8 Ahh, I don’t think the East Coast thing matters much either. More so the 4 year college thing, since I’m getting a feeling that USC would probably look more favorably on ccc transfers? Maybe I’m totally off base. Haha.

hey i was wondering where you guys check your statuses other than usconnect??

@frantastic: I’m transferring (hopefully) from the University of Maryland. At first, I thought this might be a good thing because it is a good school but then I saw that somebody else on here claimed USC looks to accept more students from community colleges so they can graduate from a 4-year university. In my opinion, I really don’t think there is a difference as long as in your application you show USC is a better fit for you than your current college/university.

https://camel2.usc.edu/AdmOnlineApplication/
https://camel2.usc.edu/ESD/IOL/login.aspx

^Are the two other ways to check your application status, however the latter is not showing a status as of right now.

I was wondering if there was a correlation between the recent status updates and the time in which the application was submitted. For the people who received the new update, when did you submit your application? I say this because I have not received an update and I submitted a day before the deadline.

@trojanhopeful1 From my talks with admission counselors, they do tend to accept more community college students over those who are currently at four-years. The MAIN reason for this is “indecision” by the student (retention rates is HUGE for univerisites). Other factors such as progress in grades (if you goto a four-year and get a 3.5 after getting a 3.9 in high school, it actually does not look good) are also the reason for that.

@brianlee: I submitted Part II in late September/Early October. My status is, and always has been: “We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.”

It’s my guess that the process might be alphabetical by last name. Also, it seems that the admissions counselors are “sifting” through who is ready and who is not: some that may require SGRs, don’t have proper credits/classes for their major, etc. From this, I think it then goes through several admissions counselors, or otherwise known as the committee.

At least, that’s what I speculate. :)

@brianlee - I submitted my application on Feb 1 (the day it was due) and I just had my status changed earlier today. I don’t think that the submission dates have any correlation with status changes; it could be possible that they’re distributing workloads to each other by last names (i.e. A-E, F-J, K-P, etc…) and just out of chance, there may be more applicants with last names beginning with the same letter this year. Just a guess.

*I also submitted part I around November-ish.

I got this update on my status today.

“We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.”

Does this mean Spring Grade Request? I have about 50 units done, will have around 70+ done at the end of this semester.

Generally SGR’s are sent for people with a smaller amount of credits, not 50-60+. They also send them for people who are currently completing transfer pre-requisites such as calculus I for Marshall.

Well my situation is a little different. My first 27 units came from the University of Arizona, and right now I am at CC taking Calc 1 in Spring for Marshall, lol.

FINALLY A FREAKIN STATUS CHANGE!!! It’s about time!!! lolol
Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

@brianlee Yeah I also submitted my application on Feb 1 just like Budlightyear. However, I’m not sure if they’re doing it by alphabetical order of last names or not, as my last name starts with an “M”. Or maybe they’re just damn efficient at distributing the applications to the committee.
I’m leaning towards more on Skyline’s speculation that they’re “sifting” though.

So has it been established that having the changed message is a good sign?

from what it seems, these status changes are probably just the front-line admissions people going through everything to ensure that everyone’s applications are complete.

theres really only 2 status changes going on right now, either “we are reviewing … sometimes we require” or “it appears you are missing” (or something to that effect). which propbably means they’re just checking for complete apps and notifying applicants if something is missing.

nothing major but a good sign that they’re already starting on the transfer process!

@Quentin13: I wouldn’t say that it’s good or bad. As I was saying prior to today: “Admissions begins to review transfer applications starting officially on April 1 as this is the deadline for admissions to send out all decisions to freshman applicants. There could be the possibility that admissions finishes early with freshman applicants and then moves on to transfers before this deadline, but I doubt it.”

It seems that my doubts were not fulfilled and admissions has begun reviewing applications as of Monday.

WOW so i used to be confident after i applied but not anymore

i go to a 4 year and have not had a status update

now i really do not feel confident

hopefully i get a status update soon

?: for those who had status updates, what is your intended major? also how many credits?

thank you

I really doubt I’m going to get a Spring Grade Request though since I’m applying for junior transfer and have maintained an extremely consistent GPA for a year and a half. Probably everyone will have that status update in a week.

no status change…
