USC 2010 Transfer Thread

I didn’t submit Part 1 and received the update on March 29. I wonder what order they are going in for reviewing applications- perhaps by major?

@dreamingusc - If I ran an admissions office, I would have app review done at complete random. This way you never let prospective students get the impression there is a strict method to what order apps are reviewed. If there was an order, then particular major/last name/whatever students would make additional freak out calls or emails to the admissions office demanding to know why their status didn’t change when it should have according to the known order :)

I didn’t submit part I and got an update on 4/2.

I’m wondering if Part I really does anything. I guess if nothing else, it provided a discount on the overall application.

I did not submit part one and I still do not have a status change.

i think you guys are making too big of a deal about the status updates… i really don’t think they mean anything until we get the real deal in a month or two (hopefully). but i’m not gonna lie, i still end up checking a couple times a day

Part I doesn’t do anything. It is just a way for applicants to get their information into the system quicker and for a discount on the app fee. I imagine it also helps them build statistical data overtime that helps them gauge whether they’ll have an above or below normal of total transfer apps that way.

@trojanhopeful1

I agree that the status change should have no affect on decisions, but I am curious if people who receive the status change earlier will receive final decisions earlier. I’m hoping this isn’t the case since I have yet to receive a status change :(

My friend just got rejected from USC with a 4.3, 2010 on the SAT and double legacy. Crazy.

***ff…DOUBLE LEGACY?

can you explain how he was a “double legacy?”

@Dainese Legacy is when you have one relative; double legacy is probably having two parents or something like that.

@Lustrous I’m assuming that that is freshman admissions? A 4.3/2010 isn’t all that impressive, especially if there were bad essays, ECs, or recs. Lets just not lose hope!

Yes, he was a freshman applicant, but I mean he was built for USC. When I say double legacy I mean his mom/dad and both grandparents graduated from USC. And trust me, his recs were incredible. He was on student government and decided to attend Berkeley so he can play lacrosse.

Just kinda crazy, I never would have thought in a thousand years he would be denied.

@spin03 I haven’t had a status change either so I’m trying to convince myself that that definitely has nothing to do with when we’ll get our decisions

@Lustrous let’s not bring anything negative into this chat and keep our hopes up

At this point in time, most of us are getting extremely anxious. CC is a good place for moral support. :)

^ I concur :D

Lustrous: I had a friend also who had a double legacy and was rejected by USC. Everyone thought he was going to USC because he had a 4.2 GPA, vice president of the school, played 3 years varsity football ( although he didn’t play much, I would know because i was in the team lol) several clubs, etc. He was rejected by USC, but accepted to Berkeley! Crzay how we knew somebody with practically the same stats!

im gonna be sad when acceptances start getting sent out cuz ill hafta check CC every second and my mailbox every other millisecond.

C’mon USC, put the admissions stuff back into oasis. It’s a 100 times better than USConnect, and more straight forward.

@budlightyear I’ve never used oasis… how is it more straightforward? I always just use USConnect because I’m too lazy to make an account on oasis

Can’t Legacy be a bad thing too?

They’ll look up the names of your parents and see how much they have donated since graduating…
