USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@dchrysler

Thanks. I never heard of that but it’s actually pretty smart. Taking the initiative. Good luck!

Dbronco- was your friends package for freshman or transfer?

@debroncos23 wow you described it perfectly haha

it was indeed post marked 9th… and inside the letter it was dated 9th as well
the stamp says
first class, hasler, $2.25 4/9/10, mailed from 90089
i have no idea what this should mean but hopefully it helps :slight_smile:
good luck guys!

can u copy and paste exactly what your status says right now samuel? and when it changed?

@mxbile131

no he applied as a freshman but I can guess USC uses the same tendencies for transfer. And as samkim said above me, it appears they do.

last time i checked was about a week ago and it said it was under review
i think they change this status when they send it… thats my guess

Yup, It changes to that ^^ when they render a decision and mail it out. Prior to that you will see the status that everyone is getting updated to over the past 10 days.

you guys ever hear of the backdoor method?

Congrats Samuel!

I got in as well! :smiley: Mechanical engineer here! I think Viterbi got the acceptance letters out first.

Good luck everyone! Don’t worry too much non-Viterbi and non-SoCal applicants! June 1st is still looong ways away.

@dbroncos: care to elaborate?

What is the “back door method” of checking your acceptance?

1) Open USConnect in Internet Explorer. Not Firefox, Internet Explorer. Or whatever you use normally to view USConnect. I find that IE is the most reliable for this job. If you use Firefox you can go to the “admitted applicants” page from the dropdown menu and log in manually by clicking the “enrollment deposit” box. But that’s the long way. If you try copy and pasting the URL into Firefox, you’ll just get a blank page.
2) Log in to USConnect. You may want to check the Admission tab first to see if you’ve gotten the boxes on your portal yet. If not, then move onto step 3.
3) Without closing the page where you just logged in, copy and paste the link (https://usconnect.usc.edu:447/Render...ification.aspx</a>) into the same page’s URL box. Go to this new URL. It’s important that you don’t close the page where you initially logged in, otherwise it will log you out and you’ll get a blank page.
4) A white page will come up with the “enrollment deposit” box in the top left corner. Click the box.
5) It will either say “user is unauthorized” or it will have a form pre-filled with your name, address, etc. You want the latter.
6) Sometimes this method doesn’t work even if you have been accepted. It takes up to 7 days for the link to work so even if it doesn’t let you access it, you still may have been accepted.

^^ looks like the url got truncated.

https://usconnect.usc.edu:447/Render/ServiceRender/AdmUGCertification.aspx</a></p>

Here is the link to the backdoor–let me know if it works.

https://camel2.usc.edu/AdmCertification/Default.aspx</a></p>

When I clicked the enrollment box, it did neither. It just redirected me back to the admissions page where it shows my status. Maybe they fixed it so it just redirects you now when you aren’t admitted.

I wonder if using this backdoor method affects your admission at all.

Kula I just tried the backdoor link posted above(the one I didn’t post) and my result was the same.

@striker- I can’t imagine it does. In the Cinematic Arts thread, pretty much everyone was trying the backdoor on a daily or weekly basis. A good deal of freshman in that thread were accepted.

i clicked the “enrollment commitment deposit” box on the top left but the page just won’t load. it’s been like 2-3 minutes
