USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@holidays it’s a standard email…they need your required financial aid documents that you did not turn in on the deadline. I would turn those in ASAP.

@holiday
i got the exact email this morning. according to the guy above, he said we are probably missing some required fin documents/ we did not submit it on time…not necessarily a good sign.

@southOCtrojan lolol dude that’s so true haha USC IS the promised land. HALLELUJAH To think that I have 7 more weeks to go until I get to leave my horrendous college… Just gotta endure 'em out and concentrate on USC haha

@everyone I can’t wait to get out of Moorpark College…not to generalize, but I feel like I’m surrounded by losers everytime I’m there. I don’t understand why people goto college to eff around and not try and move forward in life. It just amazes me sometimes because that is exactly how I used to be.

lol, after this week, I only have 3 weeks of lecture and then finals week. IM SO DONE with this place. :-(

I don’t think I could be more over my current CC situation. I think this is my 5th semester there and everyday I show up there feels like one too many. Anything I get done is a result of total procrastination because I spend all my free time checking these boards and reading articles or other pertinent info! haha 6 more weeks, 6 more weeks

lol. we are all EXACTLY at the same place basically. hahahaha. I should be studying, but im checking this and trying to psych myself up and convince myself 5 weeks is nothing, and its time to get serious again.

@mxbilr131 - I’m finishing up my 6th as my transfer advisers never gave me great advice and I needed the third year just to take everything I’d need for transferring out of state. At least it is cheap and I’m working a sweet job in the mean time.

Never listen to CC counselors. Always call the school itself and ask them personally for advice.

Omg the status finally changed to “We are currently reviewing your…”

@rawfulmao- which one? was it the “committee is reviewing” or the “we are reviewing your application. sometimes we may need additional information” one?

@SouthOCtrojan - Yeah, this was all pre-cc. I really had no one telling me I should be reaching for the top versus being content with my state school so it took me a while to pull the blinders off. C’est la vie.

actually do I need to send in my winter quarter grade if Im going to quarter system community college? is there a strict rule about it?

@kulakai- yea I hear you. It took my first semester and finishing it with a 4.0 to get the blinders off, and another semester with another 4.0 to REALLY prove it to myself.

Just curious. If I need to know my decision by… oh say May 1st, becuase a non-refundable $1000 deposit is due for studying abroad if I stay at UCLA, do you think they’d get back to me with a decision?

@cd- probably not, But it wouldnt hurt to call and explain your plight.

@cd Unfortunately, it probably won’t matter much to them.

do CC’s have priority over 4-year universities =/?

I hope they don’t. There’s word that they do have priority, but I think that is somewhat messed up. I got into USC in the past, I didn’t go due to financial reasons, and now, since I attended UCLA, you’re going to revoke an opportunity because there are CC students that put in their work there? I think if you put in the work, they should judge the statistics of the overall school and go from there. If you’re coming from a CC with a 4.0, that is very respectable. If I’m coming from UCLA with a 3.6, I don’t think you should cut my standing down even further due to the fact that I’m coming from a 4-year, when you have to keep in mind that many CC students aren’t as dedicated to completing 4 years of undergrad. I don’t mean to offend anyone with that, its just a somewhat touchy subject for me, because I feel as though the cutthroat classes I have taken are weighted against me even more, if they consider CC students to have priority… Thats just my 2 cents :</p>

yeah i know what you mean =/
