USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@tbibbs

that sounds really awesome. Oregon had a pretty good team last year, until each of their players went around doing stupid “”. When Carrol was coach, he use to let some people in on their practices. I remember watching on SportsCenter, Will Ferrell giving the pep speech. The practices seemed more laid back. Hopefully, it stays like that with Kiffin. The whole recruitment thing sounds cool though. Anything with SC’ football, I can imagine would be worth while.

By the way, don’t tell him too much or else he might get another NCAA recruitment violation. Haha.

Edit: How did I forget the USC Cheerleaders!! That in itself is reason alone. hahahah

Haha sooo true! Yeah Oregon football is a joke now with all of their thug football players. Its like they recruit them out of juvi. But yeah i think that they said practices have tightened up alot. I think it was because Carrol was established, so maybe once Kiffin proves himself he can relax more. And also with the violations they have to crack down a little bit. But yeah I am excited for next year and the years to come. I think Kiffin will do well. I mean everyone talks about how he has a losing record as a coach but if you look at where he went and what he did. I mean raiders blow and he made tennesse good in 1 year. I am excited for the Lane Kiffin era.

Totally agree with you. I hate to say it but the Dynasty was starting to lose some of its edge. Hopefully, with Kiffin, he could reignite the fire. And hopefully by this football season in the fall, you’ll be attending one of their games, in the students section. Good luck man.

Thanks man I appreciate it! Hopefully you will be at USC in the near future! Are you going to try and transfer in after a year at a CC??

@tbibbs- why not help help incoming transfers in their adjustment and support them in their process since you know what its like to go through it? while obviously, freshmen need support as theyre still babies outtve high school, I would rather support transfer students than freshmen because of the fact that i’ll remember how big of a deal it is just to be accepted, and how hard this path I have taken is. I am confident that when they choose to take a chance with me, it will mean the world and there will never be any way to repay them…except to donate millions of dollars to the business school. ;-)

Thanks!! Yeah that’s what I’ll most likely end up doing. I still haven’t heard from Marshall and I doubt I will too concerning the new courses. I guess I’m just going to have to wait to see what the new advisement sheets hold. I haven’t registered for classes, so there’s still some time, but for now I’m just picking some General Education classes and trying to get prepared for next year.

@south-- hahahaha you are right! but i would seriously want to get involved some way. hopefully I will get in and then be fortunate enough to make that much so I can then donate it. I definitely want atleast 1 building named after me…maybe even change it to the T-Bibbs School of Business, if thats not too much to ask.

lol, no way theyll change it from marshall…maybe a program or a school of marketing/entrepreneurship but no way theyll change the whole school of business from marshall…unless you donate like 1000000x more than marshall did or whatever…lol!

omg now that I look at the short answers, I think I wrote mine too long…

@foodmunkee- dont worry about it, theres nothing you can really do about it now. Just need to sit back and be as patient as possible. lol, not that im being THAT patient, but we all need to try i guess haha.

My status just changed to "Your application has been forwarded for committee review. " How long after this stage will I hear a decision?

@SouthOCtrojan hahaha I guess so man. Just gotta go with the flow now and think positive :D

@arcadefire1027 dude congrats man!!! A week to a couple of weeks is my guess. :/

My short answer to the academic interest prompt:

My primary academic interest is to continue my education under the USC Renaissance Scholars program because I feel that interdisciplinary studies will best satisfy my academic curiosities and introduce me to disciplines outside of my comfort-zone. There is a wealth of knowledge to be learned and the university’s method of combining classroom lecture with real world application is my ideal learning standard. An undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Economics, or both, combined with minors in Psychology and Education in a Pluralistic Society will empower me with the necessary tools to lead, understand, and synergize with employees and clients. In addition, I will also be pursuing a Masters in Accounting degree that is offered through Leventhal’s progressive masters degree program, which will further enhance my effectiveness and professional knowledge with respect to the backbone of every business: Accounting.

I don’t even remember an academic interest question, lol. I gotta check on that one.

@arcadefire – Thats legit bro! What are your stats, major, and are you a sophomore right now?

The short-answers I’ve read so far are all really good. Now I’m starting to doubt my responses since they didn’t address specific things that USC has to offer. =/

Is it? Does that mean I’ll get a decision soon for sure? haha.

Computer Science major from UC Riverside
Currently a sophomore
3.96 GPA
2260 SAT Reasoning (probably not important at all this late in the game)
Put one very positive letter of recommendation, and one incredible letter of recommendation from a school principal/superintendant/PHD holder haha
Essays were mediocre though (I was lazy)

@budlightyear - that is very well-written my man. thats pretty awesome.what do you plan to do after you graduate?

@arcadefire - i wish i could tell you, i think you will hear back once you get “acted upon”, i think that should be your next status…but im not for sure

Just wondering, posting your short answers here won’t invalidate your application right? Will the USC committee search the web to check for any plagiarism or anything of that sort? I want to post mine but my paranoia is getting the better of me -_-
