USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Congrats man.

ahhh icic thanks rhandler!

@Lustrous

Yeah. I think it’s probably because I’m only a freshmen and most likely will get an SGR :(

My status as of now is:

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by June 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning June 11th.

Even though I will have 68 units done by the end of this semester, since I’m taking a Calc and Econ course, do you think I will get a SPRG from Marshall?

If you’re taking any Marshall pre-requisites, I’ve heard you’re pretty much guaranteed a SGR.

My status is still:

“Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.”

Anyone else the same? :</p>

@skyline12: This is what I’m worried about as I can’t wait until late July to know where I’m going.

I actually had a dream about USC last night. In my dream I had waited until the last minute to turn in my app. After I submitted it, I realized that I hadn’t edited it well. Each portion was titled something inappropriate. I actually included a picture of my favorite band in there as well. I had to try to get a hold of a rep and explain why I messed it up but I couldn’t find who I could contact. I was freaking out so hard.

I am officially pathetic, hahahah.

now that i have a status update…im checking my status so much more often haha

hey future trojans! so i got accepted to usc’s viterbi program and ucsd mechanical engineering and am having trouble deciding between the two. this being a usc transfer thread, can you guys enlighten me on the benefits of choosing usc over ucsd. i’m aspiring to attain a phd or even law degree (patent laywer) someday. i know usc is a great school but my parents are almost convinced ucsd is a better choice. come on trojans!! help my find a good reason to attend usc!! fight on!

@kulakai

There is a legitimate chance that you could receive a conditional acceptance, which gives you admission assuming you receive a 3.3 overall GPA and Bs or higher in the pre-reqs that are still in progress. There were a decent amount of people who posted in the 2009 decision thread that had 1-2 pre-reqs in progress and still received conditional acceptances.

STILL NO STATUS UPDATE! maybe i just need to use some reverse psychology and pretend i don’t care!

My status: “We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.”

June 1=an eternity from now

@ohnanoko USC=Connections (TROJAN FAMILY WOOOT). Diversity. Superb balance between academics and opportunities of extracurricular activities. Smack in the middle of LA, so there’s a LOT of stuff to do. It’s also located in a low income area neighborhood, but that just makes the university experience all the better, since you become more exposed to the real world (which in my mind I guess makes you more aware of the world around you :)). Ranked 26 in National University Rankings for US News and World Report. Even now, USC continues to improve its academics. And it’s colors are BOMB cardinal and gold w00t! :smiley: Oh yeah and the football team is ballin. hehehe
UCSD=Near the beach. Not much to do though outside campus, unless you are into surfing or eating. Ranked 35 in US News and World Report Nat’l University rankings. SD school spirit< SC school spirit. I don’t even know if they treat minority groups fairly either. :confused: Programs have been cut at UCSD due to the budget crisis (USC has not cut any since it’s a private university).
[UCSD – Racist Incidents, Again Continental Drift](UCSD – Racist Incidents, Again | Continental Drift) Pretty sad that these incidents occur in this day and age, especially at a university.

But being that I’m a bit biased here (I can’t help it I’m a die-hard Trojan :D), I found this thread that compares USC vs UCSD. It’s from way back in 2007, but I think it’s fairly accurate to say the least :slight_smile: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/323289-usc-vs-ucsd.html</a>
This poster asked the same question you’re asking. No one responded to him yet, but I guess it can come in handy later on when people begin to post. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/913957-usc-vs-ucsd-engineering.html</a></p>

oh and i found out why i couldnt sign on to USConnect. it was because a few months ago my credit card information was stolen so i had to cancel that card. and that card happened to be the card i gave to USC to charge my application fee on. so i guess they never charged me and my account got put on hold or something.

i called the Admissions Office today and i love how wonderful and nice they are there! the few times i ever had to call UCLA were a nightmare; they were terrible.

so thanks Karen, from the Admissions Office :D

Karen was always the best when I had a problem in the admissions process.

@veggiechips and hippo50
Yes! I definitely agree. Karen was very helpful every time I called in with a problem. :)

Karen Josey is the coolest hahah

When do you think marshall will begin to get the “admission committee is reviewing” status??

marshall already has at least one person on the admission committee, so anyday now. my guess is maybe next monday?
