USC 2010 Transfer Thread

I went and drove around the campus and checked out some of the possible apartments on my list while I was in LA this weekend. I also checked out the exposition line progress and I really can’t gauge whether the section up to USC will be finished by fall or not :confused: Anyone heard any news on this?

@Kulakai: There is a website devoted to the construction: [Student Affairs Construction Project](http://www.usc.edu/student-affairs/construction/)

The Campus Center is scheduled to be completed this summer.

Edit: I assume this is what you’re talking about. At work and my attention span is that of a goldfish at the moment.

Double Edit: Exposition was closed all last week. Today is the first day it is back open, apparently.

Hi my names Andy and I’m about to be a civilian again after 5 years in the Marine Corps this July. I just wanted to introduce myself because alamemom on the financial aid forum said I should…I have a pretty low GPA of 3.25 but I’m crossing my fingers my essay and letters of recommendations do something…I am currently trying to go for CLAS International Relations Global Biz…I check usconnect like every half an hour…I always ahve the same “We are reviewing your application”…this wait is unbearable…

@skylineismine: I was talking about the exposition line construction progress as in the new subway line running from downtown that will have stops near the campus. The exposition line website isn’t as detailed in their progress updates as USC is with the new Ronald Tutor Campus Center :)

@doandydo - Welcome! There is a lot of information in this thread to read through if you have the same. Many of your questions have probably already been answered but feel free to ask anyone if you have something specific. Also feel free to join our facebook group: <a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook;

@doandydo
Welcome to the forum. And thank you for your service to this country. I think there is another fellow service-women on here as well.

@Dainese
those pics just made me want to go even more now

my status has changed:
We have received your application, and we need more information. Please ensure you have submitted all required items. Due to the high volume of application documents we receive, allow sufficient processing time.

but when I click the link to the missing document, it showed no documents that I need to submit :/

thanks broncos…yeah i think i saw her when i was lurking these pass couple of weeks…finally introduced myself…

@Kulakai: Yeah, I kind of realized what you were talking about after I posted. My uncle is working as one of the leads on the project with the city – or something along those lines.

I e-mailed him, and this is all that I got: [.:: EXPO TRAIN ::.](http://www.buildexpo.org/)

EDIT: Looks like the same answer is in order (by sheer coincidence) for the completion of Phase I: “Mid-2010.”

Well if you can get him to tell you off the record when he thinks the sections near USC might be up and running… :wink: I drove around and it looks like the track is laid and stations are setup but lots of finishing work to be done and I’m no engineer so I can’t guess how far along it is.

@jcarroll6 - well since WinnietheJason is in marshall and got an update…I decided to check! haha. I am still “We are reviewing your application.” :frowning:
I had a really weird dream last night. I figured I would share it with you all. I had a dream that all of us on here were hanging out. And randomly we all had packages sitting on a desk. So we opened them up and we were all accepted to usc! :slight_smile: I remember in my dream the date was May 2, but I looked it up when I woke up and thats a sunday so its impossible :frowning: haha. I was thinking that would be crazy though if we got the next update on Sunday though.

@Kulakai: That’s what I did, but apparently we’re only privy to the public website. I finally get some downtime at work after the tax season being over and now I’m starting to get as impatient as everyone else.

I would safely assume that mid- to late Fall at the latest. It wouldn’t hurt too bad to not have it running for maybe half a semester.

@Doandydo: what’s up! I’m glad to see a fellow veteran on here! I’m in the same boat as you, I have a 3.2 as well, but I’m hoping that my 8 years in the Army and my essay helps me out. To top it off, I’m still waiting to get out of the sandbox!

@nacar13- did you get any letters or recommendations?what are you going for? I can’t wait til u get out of the sandbox as well! when are u supposed to be home? did you roll over to the post 9/11 gi bill yet? I just got my certificate for it took 3 months for them to mail it to me…

@doandydo: I applied for psychology and secondary is sociology. We just had our transfer of authority ceremony two days ago so now I’m just waiting to get on that plane to come home. I should be back in LA mid May sometime.

3 months?!?! Wow! I might need to get on that ASAP! It is definitely the best way to go! I can’t believe we’ll now be getting E-5 with dependents BAH a month! Especially in the Los Angeles area, that’s over $2000 extra a month! Ah, look at me, I’m talking like I’ve gotten in. The wait is seriously killing me, especially since all I’m doing now is just waiting since we completed mission two days ago. ugh.

Did you join the facebook site yet?

@rhandler, don’t even trip bro, USC even mentioned it in their application I believe, or somewhere on their site that they do critically look at the upward trend and love to see how students become more dedicated towards their academics. It is clear with what you’ve told that you have devoted yourself to bettering your future and even if you did have a 3.55 at the time of applying, they don’t simply look at the numbers but how you’ve pulled yourself together to reach that 3.55 with the consistency of mostly As. Also in the essay/short answers portion you should have probably expressed this sort of change and it will be clear to the admissions that you’re quite a qualified and driven individual at the time of your application, dont stress it !

@tbibbs Haha i wish that dream were true, all of us sitting together and going all crazy that we all were accepted :p.

Haha xdzzzrawr you and SouthOCtrojan were in my dream. I remember you and him for sure. I forget who else, but it was funny.

@daisydaisy aww come on, you cracked! haha I’m so tempted right now.

My status is still: “We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.”

And of course, I think I’m interpreting the “occassionally” part of this message probably a bit more liberally than USC intended. Am I the only one still with this update? I’m hoping for a new one very, very soon. I’m going crazy here! Haha.

I lurk these boards every day, but obviously don’t post much! Everyone here seems really nice and helpful. :slight_smile: I’m a current freshman at Santa Monica College with a 4.0 GPA (3.7 HS). I’m applying for Narrative Studies. Did anyone else apply with this major? It’s a new one… I thought it looked pretty cool! USC is my dream school, and I’m just stoked to be part of the application process (for the second year in a row! lol).

@doandydo - semper-fi brother!! I’m a veteran also, 8 years in the navy, from '98-'06. I hear USC has a fantastic vets group. Thank you for your service and good luck with this process!!!

@SilverGirl2 I have that same status still. Applied as open, I am a freshman at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, 25 units completed 4.0 working on 15 more, how will you have completed by the end of this semester?
