USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@xdzzrawr- dude…i feel bad for you since u had to suffer 2 more days than I did haha. I dont mean to put it in ur face but yea its all good now right? It’s kinda wierd how we both got acted on Saturday morning and I guess my mail made it on time that day…anyhow congrats and ill be seeing you around in the fall!!

Again, good luck to the rest of you waiting.

@mstransfer haha yea, but finding out last night using the backdoor method was good enough for me :D. You’re a rare case who got acted on and received the package the same day, prolly shipped yours out first then acted on on Saturday or something. But thanks  looking forward to meeting people on CC.

@skyline I’m planning on doing the July 9 one. Did you have to wait 7 business days before you could sign up for orientation? That’s what it said I had to do when I wanted to reserve my orientation seat.

@xdzzzrawr: I haven’t signed up yet, but I think it depends on when you receive the confirmation e-mail after you put your deposit down.

How long did it take for you guys to get accepted and then get a financial reward report?

Got my SGR in the mail today! Just in time for that extra push during finals week! 2 finals down, 7 more to go!!

@sirownzalot: Getting accepted is a very general question, but I would reference the list that we’ve been frequently updating. As far as the financial aid report is concerned, it took about a week after I put in my commitment deposit to receive it online; and about a week after that to receive the physical letter.

Congrats wghiller and xdzzzrawr! Got my acceptance packaged today too! Marshall FTW!!

Welcome in wghiller :). Sucks about the screenwriting thing but that does look pretty much impossible, even as a freshman.
Congrats skyline12, too.

jmoney, the stats are too high because that isn’t a complete calculation, as far as I can tell.
“The following is total and complete result of all of the Fall '06 Applicants for USC. Most were for business, some for Annenberg.”
That hints that the calculation was only for the small group of people who came onto College Confidential. As has been previously discussed, we’re going to have a higher acceptance rate because we’re more likely to be students who care in the first place. A better example, both in plausibility and how recent it is, of the general admit rate is College Board’s stats. They say 25.88% of transfers were admitted. No idea of where to get SGR acceptance percentage.

@ unknownpleasures,
I officially was admitted w/ out an sgr for Marshall. However, I need to get at least a 3.3 gpa or they might rescind the acceptance. I guess they were impressed w/ something about my application because Im currently taking a major requirement class(business calc.), and they didnt even give me an sgr. The 3.3 gpa rule doesnt apply to everyone. Im only freaking out cuz I had a brutal semester.
Btw, sorry for the late response

congrats xdzzzrawr, wghiller, skyline12 and afresh

Thanks for the congrats guys  I’m really excited and it’s cool to be part of the community on here(and USC now, too!)

Once again, and I will continue to post this haha–if anyone is looking for a roommate who is into sports & movies, and will be attending the USC football games(and probably basketball), send me a message on here! I’m thinking I’ll probably stay at Gateway, and since that’s two people per room, I’d like to find someone cool to live with.

If you do decide to go the Gateway route, I called yesterday and they quoted 1030 with the first month free. That comes out to ~944 a month over the 12 months. I’m not sure how long that’s going on which is why I’m mentioning it.

@hsstudent are you a comm major?

im still stuck with the “we are reviewing…” status app. WHY IS THIS TAKING FOREVER :((

@Serapher- Yep, they sent me all of that through e-mail. They also said there is a “$0 fee” for early move-in, which can be as early as June 30th. Does that mean I could live at Gateway for pretty much free during ALL of July and August? Or does “$0 move-in fee” mean no additional charge, but I still have to pay the $1030 rent? Any idea?

@wghiller I visited gateway the other day! Nice place. Their thing is this. They give you the incentive to move in june 30th, meaning july or august would be free depending when you move in. Then after that its 1030 a month per bed. Includes cable, internet, water, and electricity.

I dont think they have a move in free. They are trying to fill the place up. Its still got construction going on but it should be done by then. Other than that the place is sweet. lol My friends and I already signed up!

Just submitted my intent to register to USC and signed up for orientation :)

@MrPopular- Sweet, glad to hear a positive review! That’s pretty much all I’ve heard when it comes to Gateway. 100s of positives and 1 negative(sharing a room.) I think I’m just going to fill out the roommate matching card. I mean, I’m listing “sports and movies.” They should be competent enough to pair me with someone with those likes, right? It’s not like I’m listing “UCLA Football, tiddlywinks, and Hungry Hungry Hippos.”

@longshot- Congrats man! I submitted my deposit today, too!

What do you guys think about orientation? The one I went to for my current school was pretty pointless. Is it worth flying from NC to LA for?

Also @MrPopular- Utilities and everything included is nice. Isn’t it fully furnished, too? What does that include? Two beds and two desks per room? Any TVs already there or anything? And also, is the washer & dryer in the actual unit or just on the floor?

Finished finals last week. Have received two grades out of four classes (2 As). Waiting on the last two grades which seem like the professors have forgotten to submit. Dying for my grades!
