@SouthOC - You got in man? congrats if so :)

@SouthOC

Congratulation!

SouthOCtrojan, well, of course! It’s in your name. Congratulations :D.

@olyWA90

That makes sense! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

@southSC

congrats! how did you go about the whole situation with your C in calc? amazing!

@ serapher- thank you for the response i did see your reply earlier but I didn’t realize it was directed at me. Thanks again,

@south yay finally :slight_smile: CONGRATS!

Hey guys… I’m not a transfer this year, but I will hopefully be transferring in the future. I have some questions:

Has anyone in this thread successfully transferred into the School of Cinematic Arts or know of someone who did?

How competitive is transfer admission? Are there any statistics anywhere? I’ve heard that the average GPA is about 3.5 for the less competitive programs. That seems low compared to the regular average…

What is the earliest you can transfer? Is there a minimum amount of credits you need other than the required courses? For example, do they require junior standing or something like UCLA?

Do AP scores count towards the required courses?

Do you need letters of recommendation? I sent three when I applied for fall 2010 but I was rejected. Will they still be in my record or something?

Any help is much appreciated. I haven’t gone back to look at the first few pages in this thread, but I’m going to go do that now. Apologies if all of this has already been covered. :)

@dreamupside0wn - I can’t address your first question but for the other three, yes 3.5 tends to be the average for the less competitive programs with 3.8+ being the average for more competitive ones such as Marshall or SCA.

USC requires 30 credits for transfer I believe so that would basically mean they require you to complete one full freshman year worth of classes. Your question regarding AP scores can be answered here: [Transfer Students - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/transfer.html)

Thanks Kulakai! So if I have say 12 units from AP scores, that can count towards the 30 units you need to transfer?

-niafong got into SCA Production, rhandler33’s girlfriend got into SCA Critical Studies.
-Collegeboard.com has a 25.88% transfer acceptance rate for USC in general. SCA is probably going to be more competitive. USC’s 2009 transfer GPA average was 3.66 based on http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1011/TransferringToUSC_2010.pdf</a>.
-“There is no minimum number of transfer units you must complete before applying for admission. However, if you have completed fewer than 30 units, we will focus primarily on your high school record and results from the SAT or ACT.” from [Transfer Students - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/transfer.html)
-“Advanced Placement (A.P.)
and International Baccalaureate (I.B.) credits:
A maximum of 32 units is granted under either the A.P. or the I.B. program, or in combination.” from [Transfer Credit & Policy - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/trans_credit.html)

Thanks for that info!

Letters of recommendation are not required but for more competitive majors they can help.

EDIT: I knew I recognized your name. You seem to have a lot of fans and, given who some of them are, it must be well deserved. See you around campus?

@dreamupsided0wn-- they might have your letter of recommendation in record but you will still need to sent some in from your latest school professor to show them you are recently doing good and keeping a good standing. So if you are going to a college after high school and apply for transfer again, to be more competitive you should sent in some letters by the professor in your recent college.

acted upon may 30 2010

fwd to committee on thurs may 27 2010

Congrats SouthOC, I told you you’d get it! Looking forward to meeting you my fellow Trojan!

@SouthOCtrojan Congrats!

Yeah so… I withdrew from one of my spring classes this semester and was planning on taking it again this summer, but my teacher just dropped me since I didn’t get my book on time. Is this something I should tell admissions?? I don’t want to have my admission decision revoked.

@daisydaisy - did you get an SGR? Yeah it is something I would mention. I don’t think it would be a huge issue as long as it isn’t a pre-req to transfer.
