Usually when you order official transcripts, schools will give a disclaimer that the processing time is 3-5 business days. That time on top of however long it takes to mail them means a longer than preferred delay :/

If you only ordered them on Friday then I bet they haven’t even gotten there yet unless you know for a fact your school usually only has a 1 day processing time in sending out official transcripts for you. This is why I usually have them mailed to myself and then overnight them in a manilla envelope with a delivery confirmation so I know they received them.

@alamemom - thank you for your help! I really appreciate it. My parents handled the whole financial aid thing. But my parents don’t own a small business or anything.

I did receive an email saying I could view my package so I assume that means it is complete.
My package break down is: Univ. Grant $2724 + Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan $4,500 + Fed. Direct Unsubsidized Loan $2000 = $9224…So estimated family contrib = $46,504…So my dad is going to try and figure out why there is such a big difference and probably call today or tomorrow.

But if I get no other aid, do most people just take out a loan to cover the rest??

I am a sophomore transfer so does that have any affect on anything??

alamemom is way more qualified than me but I’ll give you a preliminary answer.

Being a sophomore has a really minimum effect on your package. As a junior and sophomore you might get a 5,500 Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan. The Direct Subsidized limits increase by 1000 a year till junior year and then stay that way. Beyond that, there’s no class standing differences that I know of.

Hey everyone
I’m new here and I got a SGR and i just sent my grades. Do you know the reasons USC would reject a person after sending a SGR??
I’m scared they might reject me :(. My grades were all A’s except for one B in a prerequisite class.

The $30,000 really does seem like a big difference when you don’t have a business or some huge obvious asset sitting around some where. Also double-check the amounts listed on the CSS/Profile for question #SR-160A How Much Your Parents Think They Will Be Able to Pay in 2010-11. If you listed more than $12,000 for that, USC will expect at least as much as you listed. Make a correction to $12,000 or LESS on the form and fax it in with an explanation that you entered the wrong number there.

Let us know what fin aid says when your dad calls - fingers crossed that the USC grant should have the decimal point moved to the right one place.

The housing email I got says I have until June 8th to accept my housing assignment. I don’t particularly like my housing assignment. So what happens if I don’t accept by the deadline? Are they going to give me a new assignment? Or am I going to have to drop another $45 and reapply?

I hate when I make a mistake and can’t edit my post. I should say that I meant “As a junior, you might get a 5,500 Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan”. Somehow “and sophomore” got into the sentence. You could probably figure it out just by looking at what I said about limits increasing and the fact that you are a sophomore already with only 4500. Still, better to correct it.

Brobee, you could still potentially get rejected with a 4.0. Don’t stress about it if you can avoid it. Obviously not everyone gets a 4.0 and they still get in, it’s more about your application in your entirety.

Quentin13, it took two days for me.

sirownzalot, you’ll just lose the 45.00 and you won’t get another assignment. If you want to reassign you have to accept the current contract and risk being there.

I contacted USC through the USConnect website asking why my transcript was still being requested even though it had been received according to them.Just heard back with this: “Don’t worry, we have received your transcript and your file is complete. Give us a few days to review your file. You should be receiving your decision shortly.” Kind of excited now, can’t wait!

Yes, I know but I’m looking in the long term of things. I am planning to go to USC for graduate school for a masters program and it only starts in the Fall, so because I will be finishing a semester later than planned I will not be able to apply for the program on time. This will ultimately set me back

zpaintballer, I don’t see how it sets you back. Go to another school for the fall semester and then pick up at USC in spring. There doesn’t have to be any interruption.

There would not be any set backs, BUT the letter of admission stated that I need to take 64 units at USC and unless I overload on units, I will not be able to finish by Spring 2012

Ah, I didn’t realize that you were already at the cap. My fault. You can use summer semesters, too, though. I agree that it’s kind of annoying so I guess you’ll have to decide whether you’re willing to do that.

Just spoke to USC admission. Apparently they have only just forwarded my application to Thornton for their recommendation as to whether I should be accepted into that major. I suppose this is good news? The status still hasn’t changed on USConnect and is “We are reviewing…”
