I sent it in 2 days ago and haven’t received an email yet.

I got an order confirmation email after submitting my deposit. I didn’t get an email prompting me to make a USC email address or confirming after I signed up for one.

@serapher so what did the counselor mean when she said it was being sent to Thornton for a recommendation as to whether i should get into that major?

Thornton make a recommendation then it gets forwarded to the committee?

@ Serapher
I thought we are suppose to receive an email prompting us to sign up for a USC email and orientation a couple of days after we send in the enrollment deposit.

playthemdrums, Thornton’s recommendation, from what I know, is the sole factor that decides whether you get in or not to that major. Forwarded to committee means that it is sent to Thornton, in your case. They probably just haven’t updated your status yet if you were sent to Thornton and don’t already have “forwarded to committee”.

Quentin13, you’ll get an email prompting you for orientation. Earlier I said that that would be a good time to sign up for your email as well but they don’t specifically tell you to in the email. You need a USC email for orientation reservation. It does tell you to do it on the orientation page itself.

oh. I’m a little confused then how do we sign up for the usc email?

Well, you don’t exactly sign up for email. You sign up for a USC computer account which includes your email. The link is on the orientation reservation page but here it is anyway: https://secweb.usc.edu/cgi-local/firstlogin/showform?form=activate.

Got it thank you.

@serapher Ok, understood, but is it the sole factor that determines me getting into USC? Was I wrong to think that it had to go through USC undergrad and thornton admissions?

What’s the difference between Two Bedroom and Two Bedroom Double? It says occupancy 4 person for one and 2 person for the other, however if you look at the floor plans and the virtual tour, they both look exactly the same. There is about a 400 dollar price difference too.

That’s my understanding. I could be wrong, of course.

Ideally, it works like this:
- “We have received and are currently reviewing your application”
They’ve received your application - “We are reviewing your application.”
They’re checking for missing parts. - “Your application has been forwarded for committee review”
Sent to your division for them to decide whether you’re admitted or not. Once they decide they send the decision back to the general office and you get “acted on” where the USC Admissions office sends notification.

ilovemtsac, two bedroom double and triple are paired. They both get a two bedroom apartment with 5 people in it. If you’re two bedroom double, your room has two people. If you’re triple, your room has three people in it. Two bedroom means you’ll have two people in your room, 4 people in the apartment.

I know the USC area pretty well, but I just wanted a second opinion: would you say that housing at about the Hoover/Adams intersection is safe? I’d be a girl living alone (my parents are VERY iffy on the idea), and I found a nice apartment that I like and meets my criteria of being unfurnished and allowing pets. Plus, it has hardwood floors and granite counters, which I wanted. What do you guys think?

Thanks @serapher. Can anyone else confirm what Serapher is saying?

@dreamingUSC
Here’s what I think: My family lived in a similar area to the area you’re considering (I’m guessing your parents are iffy about maybe the crime?) in Houston that has a pretty high crime rate (for a little context, the area is nicknamed “Gunspoint” lol). But maybe I was fortunate enough to not have anything happen to my family bc we never experienced any crime. Then again, we never actually stayed out too long at night and didn’t have much to have stolen from us anyway lol. But we happened to look at online reports of our area, however, and we read otherwise; there was a bit of an influx of reported crime-and who knows how much went unreported. So I guess you can look at the crime rate of the area in maybe some online reports (or maybe even consider an area with extra security) for a little piece of mind, or better yet, I would ask someone (that you know lol or maybe some random person?) who lives there to get an idea of how safe the area really is.

do they send admitted student a summary of the courses that one has transferred to the school?

@dreamingUSC - I wouldn’t walk back all the way at night just to tempt fate but there are tram stops 1 block away and it is within campus cruiser range and there is always bicycling. The crime north of campus isn’t any worse at that intersection than the rest of north campus, feel free to go back week by week to look at the crime report: [LAPD Crime Maps](http://www.lapdcrimemaps.org/)

It does it by every 7 days and if you just go back by clicking on each previous Saturday or whatever it’ll show the previous week’s crime reports.

@playthemdrums and Serapher:

Well I think it is something like this:

each department sends a letter to admissions telling them how many spots are available for the next year. this many for freshmen and that many for transfers.

the departments are the ones that are looking at the application and reviewing if you have everything ex. essays, statements but the admissions are looking at the application to make sure you have sent your transcripts.

and they would take it all together to see if you are fit to be a Trojan.

I base this on what the theater department has said to me when i ask them how does the process work to get into the theater department.

and i would ask admissions tomorrow.

Can anyone give me a good list of pros and cons between UCSB Bus Econ and Marshall Bus Admin? I am having an impossible time deciding because of factors like price and location. Is there a huge difference in academics? Please help! Thanks!

@lafazman - What are your career or academic goals and how big of a deal is cost/tuition?

hey guys i have a quick question…
is it possible to pay deposit @ USC and UCB together?
i already did UCB and now i am seriously thinking to deposit @ USC
I just cannot decide yet… my school wont finish for another week and grades would probably come out in more than like 3 weeks…
so is it possible to do sign up for UCB and USC together?
