USC 2010 Transfer Thread

They’re too busy celebrating.

dunkers, you can’t sign up for classes until orientation.

Yea, I knew about that. I was just wondering if I could take care of the advisement thing now instead of waiting until orientation.

Also, it also says I cant register until 7/24 which is a week or two after orientation
Does anybody else have the same thing?

@dunkers - That is the date people can register who didn’t make it to orientation in person I believe.

Hey guys, I’d appreciate some feedback on this, if you don’t mind

<a href=“Help, please? - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>Help, please? - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums;

Just apply for housing at UCSD and wait for USC’s decision. I really doubt you’ll be able to find housing through USC at that point but there are off-campus options.

By the way, I predict a bunch of UC people telling you how USC is for rich people or something, haha.

Think of it this way: Do you really want the Triton Eye? Especially considering what awaits at USC…

Ugh this sucks. I’m still waiting on a decision from USC since my spring semester grades were only made available about a week ago.

If I were to be accepted to USC, I would have definitely gone there but without on campus housing, I’m not so sure since I really want to have an active social life as well…bummer.

Can anyone tell me what my options are in terms of housing at this point and how that usually plays out socially, especially for transfer students?

I know at the University of Maryland, where I am at, many students are given off campus apartment first as freshmen, but they’re run by the school, so there are tons of other kids in the exact same year and situation as them, leading to equal opportunities to socialize. Is there anything like this?

@buusey - You can still have a social life if you don’t live in a dorm. Pretty much all of the area north of campus is student housing or apartments/houses rented by students. USC has tons of student life activities, events, student orgs, etc. on campus you can get involved in as well.

Like Kulakai said, just find off-campus housing populated by students. Gateway is an example that a lot of people in this thread have gone with, there’s plenty of other apartment buildings, too. Years may not match up but that’s honestly not a big issue, in my eyes, unless you get put in with seniors.

I just found my status changes to’Your application has been forwarded for committee review’!!! i am a Marshall sgr

It’s been 5 days after I submitted my deposit and I still haven’t received an email about orientation. Should I start worrying?

It can take 5-7 business days to update their systems (http://sait.usc.edu/orientation/problems.shtml</a>). It doesn’t have to take that long but, like the enrollment deposit, I guess it takes longer in some cases.

how do we accept enrollment to USC? i was accepted to usc and it says that to committ i need to go to usconnect and there should be a box for enrollment but it isnt there…how do i accept the offer?

It can take a week for that, too. If it still hasn’t shown up after that, do what sky-raptor did:
“For anyone not seeing the Deposit Box under the admission tab after 7 days, call the USC Admission office and they’ll add it for you.”

serapher: do we have to wait a week? cuz i wanna sign up ASAP so i can kiss UCLA off my mind haha

Anyone know about the foreign language requirement for USC?

I took 3 semesters in high school. Does that cover it? Because I know for the UC’s it did but I’m not sure about USC

socal4, you could theoretically use this: https://camel2.usc.edu/AdmCertification/Commit.aspx</a>. I probably wouldn’t, though. Just waiting is the safest way.

zpaintballer, it looks like you just have to placement test. You’ll need to complete/place out of the third course in a language sequence.

It says I still need to send them my transcripts but I thought I did about two months ago… so my status hasn’t changed from that and I’m a little worried. I didn’t know until now since I couldn’t log into my usc page… I’m going to call them tomorrow to see if they received anything/everything… what do you guys think? If they didn’t get it will they stop the process of my application??

They can’t process without your transcripts. You really need to call them tomorrow and figure out whether they need you to send another set or not.

O NO! This is going to be a problem for me… I haven’t taken spanish in four years now!
