shucks i called them and found out i got rejected good luck to those who havent heard from them yet!

EDIT: Looked at the financial aid thread, apparently there is a difference between on and off campus housing. I guess College Board uses their own numbers for the housing estimate and not USC’s?

ACCEPTED - MARSHALL SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

So my status still says in being reviewed by the committee and I cannot log in via backdoor, but I was accepted today. Package came and everything. What a surprise!

You really are lustrous ;). Congrats

@Lustrous - Congrats!!! :)

Anyone know how I can change my name in the USC system? Cause when my name appears it doesn’t add the suffix “Jr” which is a problem for me.

Just came back from campus and bought a bunch of gear. So excited :)

I got accepted, so how do I register and get an official USC email? I want to change my Facebook Network =)

@Serapher - I don’t think it will be significantly less for off-campus housing. I can’t find any official estimate on the USC website other than for on-campus housing, but rent in the USC area is so high I can’t imagine they can say it will be much less than on-campus, so the only lower cost would be in food.

I’ll know for sure next spring - which is when my kiddo will be off-campus (study abroad this fall) - but that won’t help all of you right now… sorry! :)

The students who live with parents or relatives get MUCH less aid, however.

@alemom - so then do kids living off-campus receive more aid than those living on campus or with parents? Because I’m debating whether to live with my parents or just rent an apartment off-campus.

The aid depends on cost of attendance minus USC-determined need. The highest cost of attendance estimate would be for living on campus, then a slightly lower amount for living off-campus (but not with parents or relatives). The lowest cost of attendance is estimated for students living with parents or relatives.

Even though students living with parents receive less aid, rent is so expensive in the USC-area that you would likely come out ahead by living with your parents.

Anyone know how difficult it would be to get science courses as a psychology major? I need to take three courses as a prerequisite for grad school.

Thanks, alamemom.
I guess I’ll let the thread know how it changes. At the least, future years will have the information.

zpaintballer, I decided to take a stab at it. Here you go, [USC-FBS - sfs - Student Financial Services FAQ’s](<a href=“Student Financial Services”>Student Financial Services).

Serapher. Thanks? But that wasn’t my question lol. Check a few posts up :)

Yeah, I didn’t notice until CC locked me out of editing. I didn’t want to make 3 posts in a row since I knew you’d figure it out. That was for striker15.

I should at least try to answer your question, though, since I already brought you up. I was avoiding saying anything since I don’t know for sure. I would say that you wouldn’t have any more trouble than anyone else. Schools don’t tend to give science students priority in registering for science classes or anything like that. As long as you have the pre-requisites, you should be good to sign up for a course.

Wow, great response time!

“Schools don’t tend to give science students priority in registering for science classes or anything like that”

I was just at UC Irvine and they told me that I would have great difficulty getting science classes because I am not a science major.

I’m really not enjoying my situation

Haha, I decided to go ahead and put up a post, despite not wanting 3 in a row. Then, right after I posted I saw that you wrote something just before me so I did a quick edit to make it more responsive to what you just said. That UC Irvine thing is kind of strange. I could definitely be wrong but since most schools have you do your own registration I don’t see how they could make it more difficult for you to get a certain class. Anyway, if you have a Psych. program that you want that requires that then it’s a good chance that others do, too. USC would probably account for that then if they do some kind of prioritization.

anyone know how to get your USC email?

http://www.usc.edu/firstlogin

I think you’re supposed to wait for an email telling you to make your orientation reservation. The email will have the above link.
