is it wrong to simply ask if my grades have been forwarded yet?

How it works is they receive your transcript, it then gets “processed” which takes a few days. Once it is processed, it is posted to your account and your app can then be forwarded back to the admissions committee for final review. I think what processed means is they scan it in to your file so to speak.

Nope, not yet.

@Kulakai
Damn, that’s a shame. Hopefully it doesn’t set you back too much.

I’ll probably be up there that Friday anyway, let’s arrange a meetup.

Should I still apply for on campus housing? There is a $45 application fee and I am wondering if this is refundable. In case they are not able to give me a room, are they going to return to me the $45?

Is it even worth it to try and apply for on campus housing? Or should I just give it up and look into off campus housing myself?

What can you guys say about University Gateway? I’m trying to find how much their rates are but I couldn’t find them on their website :(

@hellostranger57
As it stands, there isn’t much point applying for housing as the spaces available aren’t the greatest. That said, it is a lot more affordable than something like Gateway.

I visited Gateway last week and I’m going tomorrow. Their current “special” is 899/mo for one bedspace. For the units that they have, it’s 2 bedspaces per room, and 2 rooms per unit. It’s a tight squeeze, but by far the best alternative to campus housing. It’s also very conveniently located next to the school.

Edit: Also to clarify, I think the application fee is nonrefundable. Not 100% certain on that one, though.

@khpatel so 899/month includes all the utilities? How did it look inside? Does it look good aesthetically? Please, tell me more about it! I just started looking in to USC housing today since I just decided this afternoon.

So you wouldn’t recommend applying for on campus housing anymore?

RE USC Housing: Personally, I wouldn’t go with it for a couple of reasons. As far as I know, the matching pool for roommates will have been narrowed down. This might mean you’ll be rooming with an undesirable roommate. Secondly, most of desirable units/layouts/locations/floorplans are likely to have been already assigned.

Gateway’s rate includes utilities, internet, ameninities (including a gym, media lounge, decks on some floors, 24hr security and concierge). It’s quite a package they’ve put together. Aesthetically pleasing it is; it’s a brand new building with brand new appliances and furniture. Like I said, it is a tight squeeze and might be a little small for 4 people per unit, but as it stands, it’s probably the most affordable quality alternative. I’m not trying to sound like a salesperson, this is just what my research tells me.

Just got my acceptance letter this morning, officially in now. :D

@khpatel thanks! I’ll try to visit them by Friday. I can just walk in right? I’m so excited! They actually have a pretty good deal!

i wonder what they look at when you turn in your final transcripts. like i don’t get how people could get rejected when they maintained or did better since they applied.

i hope SGR’s mean acceptances.

does anyone know when do we have to pay for tuition at USC? is it in the beginning of the semester or end or something else?

@rbk

I feel like we are in the same boat. Trying to justify a possible denial when we did better after receiving a SGR. WTH is the point of it if we get denied anyways!

I know this is old news, but can anyone tell me the time frame for committee review?

If it gets acted on in a few days then it is an acceptance, right?

@archieg - that was generally true back pre-June1st. Now that they are only reviewing sgr’s, no one can say fro sure what a quick turnaround means.

Got my financial aid and theres only a loan included. I think this is because before applying my family had a bit of income but now that I’ve been accepted this income no longer exists. Do you guys think I can send a new CSS profile and get my FA reevaluated?

Kulakai, congratulations! You’re definitely one of the people who totally deserved to get in.

striker15, have you tried calling the financial aid office to make sure that’s complete? It very well could be, depending on your family’s income, but maybe it isn’t. You could ask about whether they’ll update your FA this late in the game, too.

I’m trying to find off campus housing. Specifically at the university gateway. Financial aid can also be used for off campus housing correct?

When I emailed the financial aid office about it, they said that you get the same aid for off campus or on campus housing.

Ok just spoke to orientation. They said they reserve spots for students to get into the classes they need for each orientation and since it’ll cost me a ton to reschedule my trip, I am gonna sign up for the orientation on the 23rd. Hopefully I’m not all alone for it lol.
