my bandwidth will be nothing compared to the one at home! :(

Let’s get a list of people who got Spring admittance, if you guys wanna get to know who else is in the same boat. It might get handy later when we’re looking for housing or have questions about January orientation.

I agree with ForeverToday. I’ve been searching ruthlessly for a place to connect with other usc spring transfer admits! It’s so lonelyyyyy :(

Hey trojans! So I am currently a bruin & trojan student because I couldn’t decide between the two… I ended up choosing ucla because it was financially smarter… But after starting a class there last week, I am strongly feeling the pull towards USC…

The reasons ppl give me to stay at UCLA: missed orientation for USC- how important is that?.. I don’t have housing- But transfers don’t usually get housing anyways, right?.. $$-but I have a college fund… and there’s really no other argument…except that I already started at UCLA…

My question is: Is it too late? I mean, it is totally insane to try & get classes now? Or should I go for it?

@joliefillie - the main point of orientation is to get into classes and receive advisement from your academic department. They opened up additional seats at each orientation and have said if you need a class for your major, they will get you into it however you need to be flexible on which class you might take the first semester year.

You are correct in that a lot of transfers end up living off-campus like many of us from college confidential are doing.

Call an advisor and get their opinion on scheduling. I’d guess that they’d be willing to work with you, if you’re flexible about it. It’s not always about where you start. This is the transfer thread, after all.

Thanks you guys… I actually just registered for the International Orientation as a last resort, even tho I’m from Cali (they said it was ok), just to make sure I don’t miss anything.

So when are you guys moving in since there is no official move-in date for off-campus? Is there a zero week like at ucla? Is it next week? lol

[USC - Office of Campus Activities](http://sait.usc.edu/ca/welcome_week.htm)

It starts next week
Move in times are staggered out. Gateway probably has the most people from this particular thread.

@joliefillie - About 15 or so of us from this thread are living at University Gateway across the street from campus. I’m all moved in and everyone else is moving in this weekend. I assume zero week is sort of a welcome week type thing in which case USC has one also and it starts next Wednesday.

@jolliefollie- The orientations aren’t completely done… I am attending an orientation on the 16th and 17th because I was unable to make the others. The orientation is specifically geared towards international students but all students are welcome. I was concerned about being unable to get classes this late too but counselors at USC say that they hold classes for the people who are attending the 16/17 orientation. Good luck!

@wright: Yup that’s the one I signed up for too, see you there!
@Kulakai: Gateway apts sound awesome, I’ll check it out
@Serapher: Thanks for the website

I gotta say, this just feels right.

@joliefillie - thumbs up :D

Hi Transfer Trojans!

I wanted to stop by and let you all know that USC has made it to the 2011 US NEWS TOP 25. Finally! US NEWS has only released the names of the top 25, but the numbers will be released on Aug 17.

[Best Colleges Preview: Top 25 National Universities - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/articles/education/best-colleges/2010/08/09/best-colleges-preview-top-25-national-universities.html)

woo!! awesome news :D

Soooo USC Gateway is freaking awesome I’m so in!

@joliefillie If you’re signing with gateway, you should to a referral for one or two of us on CC who is also living at gateway, that way we can split the 500$ referral!

I emailed an advisor at USC at she said she suggested to me take an introductory sort of economics because once i enter the school of marshall it will be intermediate economics. However, it is a not a requirement to take macro and micro. So, if i didnt take micro and macro at my cc freshman year, would they count toward the 30 credits??
im so confused.

@xdzzzrawr, someone already called dibbs for the reccommenation thing, but if you want on it pm me because I’m going in to drop off the app today in a bit

Can someone tell me what the purpose of filling out Part 1 of the application is? Will it increase my chances of getting in as a transfer?
Also, is there an essay for part one?

Thanks!

@snowboard129 - Part I does not increase your chances, it is just a way of creating a profile for you in the system and assignment an ID# so you can be more prepared to send in part 2 and all necessary documents when you got them together.

There is no essay, it is mostly just basic personal information and a selection of your intended major.
