USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Thats always unfortunate when staff get stubborn, and I’m willing to bet that if you fill a complaint form with your school (although I do not know how the handle Ws compared to complaints about real grades), and include the fact that she threatened to tell USC about you allegedly cheating if you didn’t drop it, she would at the least get into a lot of trouble. At least e-mail her supervisor and tell her about it, mentioning the blackmail, if you will, and see if she can do anything.

But even if you end up with a W, it is not the end of the world. Its true that schools assume that if you got a Withdrawal you had a D or F at the time of withdrawal, so they look at it as a D or F. So to answer your question, does it look bad to USC - yes. But just like anything else, this isn’t a make it or break it, its one withdrawal. With all else equal they will take a student who doesn’t have a W over one who does, but if you’re a good applicant that W is good one facet of you, and they won’t reject you for having one mistake - they realize life happens, and things happen that are outside your realm of control. Did you happen to include anything about the situation in your additional comments?

I sent my college transcripts a few days ago. Late I know.

However, I take classes at 2 different CC’s, and sent my 2 transcripts through each CC’s online transcript mailing service.

Will USC know to “combine” them for me? I was told I didn’t need to attach any cover sheets. I’m scared they’ll see 1 transcript, and think I’m applying with only 40 units (while the other transcript has ~50)

does anyone know which tax return forms we should sent in, my parents already completed their 2009 tax returns and I’ve completed FAFSA as well as PROFILE, so does anyone know which of the forms I make copies of and send, since there are quite a few pages in the tax forms, thanks in advance.

^just send in all of them if your not sure. they say that they don’t need state tax forms though. i sent in W2, 1040, and all the other crap with it

So, i sent completed and sent in my FAFSA and CSS forms to USC back in January - but i just checked my Financial Aid documents recieved and they say they haven’t recieved any?

What do i do? Who do i need to call?

^^^ Mine’s been stuck the same way since January as well for the Financial Aid.
My college transcripts still haven’t showed either, despite sending my high school transcripts the very same day to the same address.
I called a few weeks ago and they basically just told me to keep checking online…
I don’t know what to do either. Just keep waiting, I guess.

Where do I go to check my status for my financial aid? I completed my fafsa and css, what else is needed?

YO

so i’ve just read this thread beginning from page 65 all the way to the current 108 page. I’m reading in hopes of figuring out what USC requests after the initial USC application that I submitted on January 30th.

I plan on going to my CCC tomorrow and asking someone there what I should mail in but so far, from reading this thread i’ve deduced that I should mail in:

Official High School Transcript

Official Community College Transcript

On the App site its telling me I can “electronically” upload the document of fax it.
I’m so confused here and it being already the 21st of Feb feel I’ve been slacking off long enough.

Any help is appreciated, just reply, i’ll reply quickly.

I’m an Anthro major applying at the regular school.

^ first, you’re way behind. second, fax your transcripts ASAP. or better yet, drop them off the undergrad admissions office at USC in person. those are the only things that u need to submit. unless ur applying for financial aid

I have no qualm about dropping them off in person @ USC. I’ll go ahead and do that. I am also indeed applying for Fin. Aid. w/ the Fafsa, which my folks just got 2 days ago so will be doing the Fafsa within the next day or two.

I could have sworn there were more forms I needed to submit to USC.
anyways…

guess i’ll head on down there tomorrow. Which office do I specifically turn these in? At the admissions office with my USC ID # on these forms and thats all? Then just play the waiting game till decision time?

@holidays - yup thats it. go to the admissions office. its at the bottom right corner of campus. if you get lost just ask an employee. and afterwards we wait 4 more months for a decision…zzz

Do you guys think it’s too late to submit a second letter of recommendation? I had another professor offer to write me a rec letter for my other schools but idk if it would be worth it/or allowed at this point to submit one to USC as well.

@skyline12 Is it too late? No I don’t think it is, the haven’t even started looking at our applications yet most likely. But how many would that give you? I’d say two is probably the maximum number because thats how many they want from freshman…

So I finally called about my application because I sent a transcript in early January and it still wasn’t showing up as received on Oasis.

Apparently they have it according to the lady, even though the document management system doesn’t have it listed.

I guess they just haven’t updated my application. It had been driving me nuts for weeks now thinking I messed up or something lol.

@holyschmidt - I called in for the same reason today as it had almost been 4 weeks. Turns out they received everything and after the call Oasis was updated by them I assume as it shows they now no longer need anything from me.

So I went to my school’s financial aid office today to fill out my cal grant gpa verification, and after getting redirected to basically every office on campus my school says they automatically submit my gpa if I filled out a fafsa… Thing is I don’t think I put that I attend my current school on my fafsa so now I’m totally confused. I checked the calgrant site and they say they haven’t recieved my gpa… And now I’m just nervous the deadline will come and go without my gpa being verified… Thanks everyone who works at my cc.

Alright so does anyone know where I can check if they have received my transcripts that I mailed?

USConnect–>Admission–>Admission Documents

How complete does the CSS profile need to be? They ask for tons of information about parents income, assets, retirement, etc… but I’m a veteran and don’t receive any financial support from my parents. Is all their information really necessary? I wish they had alternative options on the application.

Are our tax returns supposed to be post-marked before March 2, or do they have to be in by March 2???

Thanks!
