First post on CC. My status is still the “freshman” one. :(

I’m applying to marshall as a freshman transfer, 15 transferrable credits and 16 in progress. I’m wondering if USC reviews applications in the order from “the most transferrable credits” to the “least”, or from Junior transfer to Freshman transfer?

For those who still don’t get the status change, what year are you guys in?
super worried :(

I’m 27 and it makes me nervous too, lol. I always think “they’re gonna look at my application and laugh”…but according to Budlightyear we have nothing to worry about, so let’s breathe a nice sigh of relief… :)

You guys are crackin me up…I’m 40 and applied to USC as transfer student! If you twenty-somethings are worried, I should be out of my mind worried…ha…USC is actually known for their diversity, so you have nothing to worry about, although, I completely understand I am checking my mail box everyday like a mad woman. USC is the ONLY school I applied to, so I am freaked out! Oh and BTW my best friend graduated from USC in 2001. she was 26 or 27 when she got accepted as a transfer, so you have nothing to worry about, and she applied to Annenberg, which is tough to get into. Oh and she was a high school drop out. She took her GED right before being accepted into Annenberg.

WOOOHOOO! Lol thanks, that actually does help a lot. I was also a high school dropout, but I got my GED three years ago, prior to starting at a community college and earning a 4.0 GPA (so far). So that is really a huge relief!

@OMG1234, Im also still with ya i have the freshman status and i am applying as a soph transfer. first semester took 13 credits and now have 17 so idk if thats how it works but its potential.

I don’t think age is going to be a problem, on the contrary it talks about how much you want to learn no matter what. I have a fortysomething student at one of my college classes ( I’m from Mexico) and it only means to me that he is really passionate about communications… As far as I know this is his second major because his father would never allow him to study something different from an engineering back when he was younger !!

CTC- I think I read you got into Columbia. THat’s the number 4 ranked school in the country. Granted, maybe there is some issue there with FA, but I think that bodes well for your admission at some of these other schools. I seriously doubt anybody is laughing at a 4.0 application. Of course I know what it’s like to be in limbo on things. And it’s easy for me to say - I’m not an applicant - just a dad of a CC student who will likely be transferring in the next year or so.

@Bovertine- thanks, although it was Columbia’s School of General Studies that I received the acceptance from. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled, THRILLED lol, but GS is actually a school DESIGNED for students like me- the average age there is 29. So, it’s a little different. I still can’t help but think I’ll probably be viewed a little differently than many applicants at some of these more traditional transfer schools. Of course, that slightly different view may also include seeing me as “more experienced” or something, maybe even more motivated. But either way, these thoughts are hard to ignore as I wait for my decisions…

@transferaddict
I had 29 units when I applied. but will have 61 after spring.
kinda sucks that I was one short of 30…hope they don’t really put too much weight on it

My D who applied in Feb 2008 had only completed 1 semester of CC at the time she applied. She was offered a spring admission, so completed 3 semesters at flagship CC before beginning her classes at USC.

@transferaddict … i applied with 17 units completed and 15 in progress … 4.0 gpa at a CC and undeclared major … fingers crossed for acceptance w/o spring grade request

applied with 14 credits, 16 in progress. I’ll have exactly 30. cutting it kinda close but almost all of them are in my articulation history and the ones that aren’t are intro courses that should transfer over…

Yes, that may be true - but it is still Columbia. At least in California, a lot of transfers come from the CC. Especially at USC, UC, and CSU. And a lot of CC students are more “seasoned” so to speak. So these admissions counselors expect transfers, especially CC transfers, to be somewhat older.

Well, good luck - you don’t need to get into every school anyway, you just need to get into one that you like and that you can afford.
