USC Admitted Transfer Students 2008

I wouldn’t worry bout missing orientations. They’re for the parents anyways. Both orientation I’ve been to (USC and past school) are just a parade of people from depts saying “Hi I’m ____, info info info, don’t worry it’s all in your packet though.” Like if it’s in our packets then we don’t need to hear you talk for 15 minutes. True you are screwed a bit on the classes. Depending on major then you may be fine or in big trouble. But you can always take some elective classes now and do a bulk of your required courses later.

Yeah, I would just suggest to take the Category 4 & 6’s and knock those out if you’re a Junior transfer.

i’m pretty clueless on the category’s that you are referring to… i do know that i don’t have the diversity requirement and the first two categories…
i should check on that again. im still undecided on going and i really want to transfer to a school where i’d only need to put in two more years of college

did anyone get in for the spring as a business major?

ugh…i’m really worried…like every class is full and my advisor hasn’t enabled me to register…

1lazysoul --yup, i handed in my finaid stuff when i submitted my application… hopefully it comes soon so we can start feeling like REAL trojans lol. gosh, i’m really worried about classes and housing stuff…

@sunnkissed

did they tell you if you have housing yet?
i applied just a few weeks ago and the first notice i received was that they didn’t have any space left. after a few days, i received another email and it now states that I have a space. i have until aug 1st to pay the $400 and reserve my spot… now, if only they can tell me how much aid they’re giving me. one of my close friends is getting a full ride. she doesn’t even have to take loans out because they gave her extra scholarships and she’s not even a 4.0 student but her ECs are pretty impressive

mmm i had a 4.0 and impressive EC’s and i got nothing . . . .

Solomonm- Yeah I looked at that stuff a while back, and for the transfer merit scholarships the deadline was December 10th, I think. Pfft, yeah… I turned in my app. near the deadline. :P

WOT- I’m almost positive the Dec 10th deadline was for freshmen only.
The scholarship deadline for transfers was the same as the regular deadline (Feb 1).

These are next years deadlines but they were about the same as ours.

RelientK- haha. Yeah, I guess I got confused. This is the Transfer Merit Scholarship link and under it it gives 2 different dates for the app. :P

Most of my friends who got those scholarships found out about a month after they got their financial aid package, so there still might be hope…hopefully for those late acceptances

yea I guess the deadline is kinda confusing then … who knows??? I do remember speaking to them several times and they said the deadline was feb 1. but I recall anyone on cc getting a transfer scholarship … maybe they didn’t give out too many this year.

No clue. Those loan instructions they keep sending are kinda confusing, too. =P

@sunnkissed

I receive an email about my financial aid package. I might officially be a trojan tomorrow or so. I still have to withdraw my loans, etc from the other school that I was supposed to attend.

Did you receive a stafford loan? I was wondering which lender would be better…

quick question, where do I send my official transcript for credit evaluation? My grade for my summer school class just updated, so need to send that over, anyone know?

1lazysoul - personally, I just went with the USC Credit Union

hey guys, when you get to buy your football tickets if you charge it using your uscard does that just go straight your your university bill or am I suppose to deposit money in there first? thanks in advance.

Hey everyone I just registered for CC but I have been reading the USC boards for quite a while now and that have gotten through the tough application process.

FOR ANYONE STILL LOOKING FOR HOUSING…

Myself and two of my buddies just got a two-bedroom apartment at Chateau Row on 28th and Hoover right across from the Row. We are looking for a fourth roommate. The rent is 675 a month. I spent two entire days at SC and this apartment is hands down the nicest place going. Usually the Chateau Row is one of the first apartment complexes to fill up but we just happened to be at the right place at the right time. The day before we looked at it someone had cancelled their lease. Is anyone interested?

1lazysoul- Yeah, there’s a little chart that quickly breaks down the terms of each lender for the stafford loan. I was offered both the Subsidized loans and Unsubsidized and chose the same lender for both amounts. To me, there was one lender that was the clear choice since there were so many benefits. I’ll pm you.

Here’s the chart:

Thank you for the information. I’m sure it’ll be helpful for me and the other people who just got their fin aid package.

I’m visiting USC tomorrow. I’d at least want to see the campus before I officially withdraw from the other school and make the $8,000 loan.
