USC Class of 2024 Applicants Thread

@lkg4answers Well, this year is certainly different, but they have always been designed as a bridge resource to answer any questions or refer you to others until an offical academic adviser is assigned or in place for you. Once you are admitted, they of course have a vested interest in trying to see you actually enroll. They would each love to have as high a yield rate as possible for their admits. Of course, certain elements… like FA decisions… are outside their realm of influence.

@lgk4answers Agree with @WWWard. For my one there now, her advisor was helpful and available as she was working through a “custom” major kind of thing, they also had good communication prior to acceptance. My others didn’t really need any help, and one was an athlete and they have their own resources. So yes, they are there if you need them, but during decision process I wouldn’t think there is much need except for those working through a different major kind of thing and understanding what they could/couldn’t do going forward. As mentioned, they get assigned an advisor once enrolled that helps at orientation and beyond.

@whistle7 - Yes I do, and you do not need that information for the application.

Do not get bogged down in the details on the application, you can come back and fill that kind of thing in another time. All you must complete is your preferences of buildings/configurations and pay your fee. You will get your timestamp (place in line for housing selection) when you submit and pay for the application. You can add/change details on room mate preferences and room selection preference up to the point they close the application in about a month or so. That will not change your original time stamp.

USC does a great job matching if you don’t find someone, a lot of kids rely on their matching, so don’t sweat that.

If you know a room mate you want, the best thing you can do to ensure you get them, is identify each other, then both of you need to list your preferences of building and room configurations so that they match EXACTLY.

Hey, I just received an interview request from USC, is there any sort of statistics on how many people that got interviewed actually got into USC?

Is anyone else having trouble with creating the login for the housing application? When I try to create my login, the page gives an error (“SOMETHING HAS GONE WRONG. An unknown error occurred”) and I’m not even able to access the page where you put in your email/id etc. Has this happened to anyone else, and has anyone else been able to successfully create their housing login?

We are having problems creating a login for the housing application too. Did anyone have the same problem?

No. all good. You have to send an email to get a password creation link. Use your registered email id (as part of your application what you used) and the student id (again generated when you applied)

Anyone having trouble logging in to choose housing? Their server seems overwhelmed

@Newmommy9999 I am also having trouble

Yes, we have trouble logging in as well. The majority of class of 2024 must be trying to get on at the same time

Yup, my daughter has been trying and can’t get on the server either.

close browser and try again.

42 minutes of trying to log in, multiple devices, multiple browsers

Has anyone been able to log in?

Same problem here.

Happens every year, every year. Just have to keep trying.

This is crazy - we still cannot get in - 55 min

Tried closing and reopening browser, tried a different browser - still no luck. This is as bad as trying to get Bruce Springsteen tickets!

USC is not instilling a sense of confidence in me as a parent, this should not happen.

So if this happens every year, is the advice to just keep refreshing and hope that it opens? Or just try back tomorrow? Seems crazy they wouldn’t find a solution to help prevent this, maybe batching applicants or something. Thanks for any advice you may have!
