USC Class of 2024 Applicants Thread

@polyglotkat no I think saturday is pretty early for them if decisions do come out that day.

Anyone notice that the Undergraduate Admissions home page is not working at all? We’ve had the actual portal page book marked since Dec 1 and that seems to work fine(thank goodness)- but if we try go to Undergraduate Admissions through the USC main page- it is blank and none of the links anywhere on the page work. It looks like they may have updated it to include a link for Corona Virus so maybe when they updated it went awry? We tested the Graduate Admissions link and that one works fine. Anyone else have this?

Also- do any admitted students from last cycle know where on the portal page the link to see your admissions status will be? Is it at the top above the “Find your counselor”?

There is a large block over the page about corona, but then you can click the x and that can go away if you don’t want to go to that info. Is that what you mean? You are left with the other info on the page, and that seems to work ok over here. Portal looks good here as well…good luck!

This is the link that is taking me to the black color undergraduate page- but it has no page content or working links.

…probably just some kind of weird glitch…just wondering if anyone else was experiencing it:) Good luck everyone!!!

@uscscamom yeah - when I clicked that link there was a red box w/ a COVID-19 update that I was able to close and enter the normal site. Must be a formatting glitch or something.

ok good… thanks!

Update: Yes, it’s something with the laptop I’m working from- the page comes up normally with other computers. Weird.

We should all know whats happening soon!!! Good luck and best wishes to all!!!

how do we know that they aren’t sending packages this year?

@stanucla It was confirmed by a USC rep.

@mom2jw can you share the post you found where the person that received veritax did not get accepted? i did not find this post and want to read it. thanks!

@jhope222 No I never got any financial aid requests or something from veri-tax.

I know it can be difficult to not get hung up on little things, like these requests for additional documents, during this stressful time; but all you can do at this point is just wait it out. In the grand scheme of things there is only a couple days left of waiting which is nothing compared to the amount of time you’ve spent on the whole college process. Best of luck to you

@biochemmajor11

Totally get the stress, but 16 of your 22 posts have been about the veritax request - USC uses it to verify tax data from applicants. That’s all. Financial aid is separate, they are just checking their boxes off. It has been asked and answered several times by several posters.

You can spend hours and review years of class posts, but you are not going to get the 1:1 correlation you are looking for, no matter how many times you ask. @mom2jw has addressed this several times for you and they are spot on. It doesn’t mean a thing in terms of acceptance. All you can do is wait like everyone else. But you should search old threads if bored and curious and find it for yourself, because you will only believe you. Good luck!

I apologize in advance for yet another fin aid question. Just today S received an email submit missing forms. We had submitted the FAFSA but upon further consideration we did not submit CSS because we determined we would not be eligible for any aid.

Now USC is asking for the veri-tax but this is the only thing listed as missing (they aren’t asking for the CSS). Doing the Veri tax would be simple, but could we even be considered for aid if we never submitted the CSS?

Also is it true that merit is considered separately fe fin aid or do we need to complete this process to be considered for any merit?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

@raincat Did you use the IRS linking tool when you did FAFSA? That is where it pulls your data from the IRS directly when completing the FAFSA form.

You can get loans (Stafford, Parent Plus, etc) by doing FAFSA, without doing the CSS which they consider aid.

@CADREAMIN Quite a few schools had acceptance letters with confetti flying when you opened the decision up. It’s nice. They then followed up with the ‘big envelope’ in the mail a few days later. Chapman was a nice celebratory letter.

Hey, I was wondering how competitive the mathematics department is over there for First-year applicants? I applied with my 1st choice being DLAS: Mathematics, B.A., B.S. along with my Pre-prof being Pre-Teaching.

@CADREAMIN OMG! Just the opening post had us in hysterical fits!! This is the BEST medicine ever! Thank you!

Thanks for the insight!

I hope decisions are released on the 21st!!!

there has never been a time in history where USC packages come out after Ivy Day.
