@CADREAMIN Thanks so much! I saw that list, but after my daughter told me she received an email saying she wasn’t up for scholarships, I thought it was all of them. We will know very soon! Appreciate all of your help through this!
@WWWard well said - I was kinda trying to say that but you said it much better - it’s been a long day at work!
elenaparent: how does your son like Cornell? We have twins applying this year (1 film, 1 science) and science girl excitedly got into Cornell.
@ElenaParent Please see above post.
I applied to USC very last minute. I didn’t even know I was going to apply until January, so I never saw it in person. I was planning on seeing it at an admitted students day if I got in and was considering it, but now I am not sure I’ll be able to see it at all.
If I am admitted, I have no idea what to do since I haven’t seen it. The virtual tours aren’t always a great gauge of the campus vibe and I don’t feel comfortable committing (or not committing) to USC without seeing it first.
COVID-19 has made this college decision process extremely interesting and difficult.
@WWWard was your daughter able to transfer into Production or are you referring to Cinema Studies or Screenwriting? Asking because over the past year it seems during all of the presentations we’ve attended, SCA stated that transferring into production is not a thing. Please clarify for me. Thanks!
@cowboysfan2001 Yes. Very unfortunate on all fronts. My daughters scoured the various photo galleries and videos and virtual tours (I posted links of those a few pages back), but they did not know for sure until they were there in-person. It is so unfair that such may not be the case for this year’s admits… regardless of the university or college… that have not yet visited.
@chitowngirl69 are you talking about music production in Thoenton?
@cowboysfan2001 me 100%
@cowboysfan2001 my Daughter will review her options when we have all the acceptances, denials and waitlists, look at the financials and then make a decision. So far accepted to UW and UCLA comp sci, and waiting to hear from USC, UCB, And 5 Ivy’s. None of us can sleep well this week. I imagine this weekend won’t be any better.
@raincat no, I’m referring to SCA, School of Cinematic Arts.
@hotcheetos33 @cowboysfan2001 I’m in the same boat. Hoping that everything works out how it’s supposed to.
@chitowngirl69 thank you. I was asking because we heard that Thornton kids could at least audition, once they are attending, to add music production as a minor or maybe double major (i.e. if you are a performance major).
@chitowngirl69 Into CAMS.
Both are possible… internal and external transfers into Production. In both cases… only as a B.A., and not as a B.F.A.
You must complete a full year first. She wanted to begin in SCA for her spring semester freshman year, so CAMS it was.
Here is the link to info on internally transferring into Production:

And here is the link to info on externally transferring into Production:

There will also be Presidential Scholarships awarded to admits that are NMSFinalists that were not interviewed previously.
USC Undergraduate Admissions Twitter just replied in a tweet that the decisions will be uploaded in batches throughout the day so the website is not overloaded. We will be refreshing all morning regardless! Good luck to all!!!
@cowboysfan2001 @hotcheetos33 @kate0593 — I totally understand how hard it is to “know” a school unless you’ve been there. If all goes well tomorrow (!), my daughter is a sophomore and a tour guide at USC and she can Zoom call you or DM if you have questions or want a real-life perspective. She’s in the Iovine and Young Academy, lives (lived) in the Village, and knows “campus life” really well. She may also be able to put you in touch with other kids in your major. We’re on this thread because my younger daughter applied to Thornton Pop Music and Music Industry so we’re counting minutes until tomorrow! — anyway, DM me after results tomorrow if you want to connect with her…also, the Tour Guide office is planning on setting up virtual tours with guides, too, so there will be more opportunities to learn about this amazing school. Fight on!
He loves it. He is Computer Science major. He is a freshman, but taking sophomore courses in his major, just because they will not allow him to take senior or junior, even though this would have been more appropriate for his level of knowledge.
There was a problem with his dorm room - it was plain cold. I don’t know how to solve that problem. We gave him an electric blanket, but that was a constant bad problem over the winter. Cornell is “on-line” till the end of the year, so he is home. We will see whether his dorm choice for the next year is luckier than for this one.
@Pocket22 Thank you so much! If all goes well tomorrow, I will definitely take you up on that.
Good luck everyone!
In addition to official virtual tours, there is Google Earth. My daughter and I studied it after visiting USC, just to compare how realistic it is. The verdict: it is quite good! do use it, you will be able to literally walk the streets of campus, see the neighborhood, etc. Use the official (virtual) tours to learn about programs.
