@idkhuhwait Same here, I’d be SOOO happy to be a spring admit omg, but I honestly don’t think I’ll be admitted this year. I’m most likely going to do a year of community college (my family can’t afford 4 years at USC anyways & with a 2% acceptance rate for my major, I doubt I’ll get in today) and then transfer. It’s been really hard seeing all of my friends preparing to go off to school while I have to stay home for CC though
@CADREAMIN I saw that you know a lot about the USC admission process. I read all the 84 pages… Can you look at my reply and tell me what you think about it please ?
CC could be an awesome option especially amid the uncertainties we are facing with COVID-19. And getting GEs out of the way and transferring is economically sound. At some point we need to stop caring about how things “look” to others and do what’s best for our personal journey! Cheers to everyone and your personal journey!
@sassycassie5896, The most common major at USC (and in many other colleges) is undeclared. It is very easy to switch majors, if you’re not going across schools. Across schools, its not quite as easy as within the CAS, but can be done. Into Engineering is very hard (grades in freshman and sophomore years, and the courses you’ve taken matter), but I dont think you are considering that.
Good luck to you and everybody else waiting on the portal today ! A couple of years ago (2018), we were notified via the portal, about 2 hours past midnight - the white box came in the following week (it was supposed to be the other way around).
@emiliafilms : CC is a great option for USC. I would highly recommend it if your major does not really care about the first two years (this wouldn’t work for music performance majors @USCThornton). You may miss the first year or two of camaraderie, but that comes at quite a cost.
@fabbie Engineering is one of the hardest schools to get into, but thankfully USC looks for a well rounded class - demographically, passions, experiences - so many subjective things come into play, and other things can make up for a lower score or grade in one thing. It is truly holistic - good stats are one thing, but just being interesting can mean a lot!
@flurryhear It can be done - you have to take a couple classes with good grades - your advisor can help you work through that. It can’t be done at orientation but after you get started. Some can change majors at orientation (within Dornsife for example) but between schools usually requires things be done first.
